it’s realism ......new rules as per the bbc article will take care of the future and we want to be part of the ‘bigger clubs’ as of now.  Points deductions will not stand and just get taken to CAS.  The most they will get through is a fine which goes to the lower levels of the pyramid. and that will likely end up being small.

we agreed with the redistribution of prem league monies amongst the top finishers because we believed we could be amongst them.  And we have benefitted last year and this because of that decision.

Seems to be the case that the Premier League will create some new rules to stop it from happening again because they aren't confident they can dish out any meaningful punishment this time.

I thought the Brighton CEO said a week or so ago that the 14 clubs wanted to leave any punishment to the FA and UEFA, while they themselves focussed on lessening the power of the ESL six and taking steps to prevent a recurrence.  That seems to be what's happening and would also explain our approach.

Realism - a catch-all word with a broad remit. If I thought that our club shared the same moral plane as the Glazers, Kroenke, Henry, Singer and any other vulture capitalists who've slimed their way into European football, then I'd have to attend some form of therapy to lessen my devotion to LCFC.

The whole passive attitude of accepting unrecalcitrant liars and manipulators to continue perverting our national game into some version of the American football league system is tacit approval of a cultural takeover of England and Wales by these unrepentant globe-gobblers.

At least the United fans have made a stand against this rapacious entrepreneurial invasion.

The nation has boycotted social media because of its pernicious influence on our inherent desire to be a better country - for all of us. We should boycott attending any game involving United, Arsenal and Liverpool. We should cancel our sport subscriptions to Sky, Amazon and BT and tell them exactly why. I think the organising and controlling bodies of football and the broadcasters know full well how sterile football is without full stadia. They might believe they're financially unreliant on turnstile receipts but canned cheering, booing and the eruption of a crowd after a goal has been scored is like the canned laughing on an American soap comedy - soul less.

Maybe we've lost the balls to protest. Forty years of Thatcherism might have finally destroyed the Dunkirk spirit. Sad if that's the case.

Like I said ......realism ......

as a club, we take a stance that is achievable and also retains self interest. The controls which were thought to be ‘sufficient’ clearly weren’t. Specifying the sanctions in advance will enable them to have legal standing.

...good post!!!

But the United supporters have always felt that way about their owners and this was a chance to voice their disapproval, once again. It is good to see some sign of the grass roots reaction to the Super League but this was not all that it seemed.

Thanks and, yes, it's easy to look at another club and forget the similarities with your own. But the Glazers and their ilk are very different from the Srivaddhanaprabha family - who appear to be unique in their approach to Leicester and the Leicester community. A lot of United supporters have accepted the basis of the takeover and seem only to object when their team isn't winning trophies year-in - year-out.

Of course, some 'United' youths felt it necessary to express their baser instincts, but the responsible supporters, who were against the infiltration back in 2003, have shown real tenacity in trying to be rid of this awful bunch.

£100m?

Didn’t they stand to make £300m a season or something like that from this super league?

Aslong as they get assurances it’ll take off next time what’s a £100m fine? :dunno:

The Premier league  the fa and uefa are weak a points deduction would have fitted the crime and a ban on 2 transfer windows for each club and the same for the other 6 clubs out of there respective leagues as well it just goes to show these clubs are pulling the strings and this will happen again in the future as a money fine is nothing to these clubs

What’s worse is that real, Barca and jive are stating that they are still in the esl but willing to negotiate how to make the game better with ueafa. Basically give us what we want!!! Why do clubs even get a say in ueafa rules!!!

For anyone of the opinion 'A points deduction punishes fans and players for something they've had no part in' can we just remember Sheffield Wednesday have been relegated to League One today which was ultimately down to a points deduction at the start of the season something the fans and players had no part of.

Yes but are they big 6? This means they deserve their punishment and have to suck it up.

Look we all like nice things in life and they don't become nice if all the crap is allowed to become nice as well.

When you look at the fine for the super 6 e.g €100m it works out to £87m the cost of 1 player in today's market,is just peanuts to them.

Treble it and hurt them.

Ok let them finish the season and then hit them with 12 points deduction and 2yr ban on signing players at the conclusion of the season.

If we let them get away with just the €100m fine then they will be :) and sticking 2 fingers up the English football league saying we can do want we want and sod the rest of you so called second rate Premier league teams who by our standards should not be even with us.

It’s not peanuts but it also isn’t actually a fine unless they do it again .....
