I'm sorry am I getting this right?  It sounds like they're being invited to have a say in what their punishment should be?

Now that would be ridiculous lol what a joke

It's how proper regulation works. You know, like our wonderful self-regulating press.

its pointless having a sanction that’s just going to be endlessly appealed, end up at CAS and chucked out.

the realpolitik of the situation is finding a punishment which they aren’t going to appeal ......

You're right.  Most sanctions will be thrown out rightly or not!

Someone earlier talked about if they got a points deduction anything we achieve would seem hollow.  I don't disagree with that.  What annoys me is that Man City shouldn't even be in this years contest.  they rightly should have been kicked out last year and us in instead.  But yet the media will not consider it a hollow victory.  They will laud it as incredible! We need reform of the media big-six spin!  That's part of what makes them so powerful.

Same with the nonsense surrounding how well Liverpool have done to come back and what an amazing achievement it is for Man city to win considering the pandemic.

I don't get this perspective at all!  Of course the team with the deepest squad came out on top (especially) given the pandemic!

I actually agree with this quite a bit. My preferred punishment would be a ban from European football of varying lengths depending on their involvement. Ie Man City and Chelsea getting the least and Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus getting the most. For me that is real punishment which will hurt and punish the clubs involved without going too far. Fines to me don’t seem to be enough of a punishment and points deductions seem to serve too much clubs like Leicester and West Ham who if we are honest don’t deserve to win the title.

....it is strange that you agree a ban in European participation for the errant clubs, yet agree that a points deduction (in respect of the Premier League) would have a hollow ring to it, for who ever gained from such an action!!!

By the same token any achievement (in Champions league) by the rest of the clubs taking part, would have a mark against their names, denoting certain teams were ineligible in that year.

Sounds great, but won’t happen. However, I did note this paragraph:

“But Chelsea have previous when it comes to mass indiscipline of their players.

The London club’s record is so poor that they were warned in July 2016 that they faced a points deduction after appealing against a £375,000 fine levied against them for their part in a mass bust-up during a game with Tottenham two months earlier.”

I don’t remember that game… can anyone remind me?  🥳🤣😂

We get punished more severely for the hand bags at Stamford Bridge.

But they don’t win anything unless they deserve to. I just think that because the European competitions were the ones they were looking to replace they shouldn’t be allowed to play in them for a while.

Imagine if Daniel Amartey tossing a bit of cloth gets us champions league lol

Might need to rethink Youri as player of the season 😂

The FA won’t do shit. It’s bollocks.

Just like UEFA and the rest of them won’t do shit to the super league clubs. Spineless, pathetic yes men.

Slap a transfer embargo for 2/3 years on all of them. That way we wouldn’t be worried about losing any of our better players or manager to those parasites . In theory could help their academy development rather than them waving their cheque books at squads like ours

But why threaten to dock points in future and never do it? Two more incidents since then. What are they going to do? Keep threatening to dock points and say the same every time.

The simple answer is yes..

Unless one of us mere mortal clubs tries a similar thing, in which case, we'd be relegated to the Gibraltar 2nd division.

The problem for me is threatening to deduct points. The PL have backed themselves into a corner. Either they carry through the threat or it's meaningless. However, if the threat is carried though, it invites a team to start an on pitch brawl, knowing the other team will get involved. The PL don't seem to look at the cause of an incident but just charge both clubs with failure to control their teams.

It could lead to teams deliberately trying to get other teams points deducted.

Fans say they wouldn’t take a place if Chelsea get docked (which they weren’t) but of course you would! Why would you be against the greatest owners cashing a cheque for £50m because it doesn’t feel right lol. Anyway I hope leicester win the Europa and put two fingers up to everyone loving our late season collapses
