Points deduction, minimum. Probably coupled with European ban next season (though a big enough points deduction would stop them qualifying anyway unless they win EL/CL).

Fines are fairly pointless, but why not, give it all to grassroots.

Transfer bans feel a bit random given the nature of this.

Agreed. They can’t let this slide. Otherwise it could happen again. Punish them, and let them pay the price. I’m sure the fans are embarrassed (bar Arsenal).

Can't see any punishment. If they've shat it after 2 days they're not going to try it again soon. Their future threats for more money will also ring a bit hollow now as well.

In an ideal world it would be large fines with the proceeds being spread around the football League clubs and below. Doubt there would be any legal basis to do it though.

That guy has 156 followers and the tweet has received 0 retweets. No traction.

I'll bite though. Doubt there will be punishment considering they never actually left. And hoping for punishment only because it'll help us is soft.

Try for a 2 year European tournament ban, expecting it to become 1 year on appeal. So difficult, the owners need punishment not the players, fans, management etc.Having all those less games to play though would only increase their chances of dominating at the top of the Premier League so be careful what you wish for. Ultimately, somehow, the target has to be to get the six owners out, they threatened the stability of the whole sport and continuing in it should be untenable

We should be throwing the kitchen sink at them. Completely **** them up. Massive point deduction for next season, massive fines, take away any prize money from this season.

If they aren't severely punished they'll pull this shite again in a few years.

Needs to be heavy punishment to deter repeat offenders.

I wish there was a way to punish the owners and board without also making the fans, managers and players, many of whom have been vocal against it, suffer but I don't see how that could be done.

UEFA, The Premier League, Seria A and La Liga aren’t going to penalise their biggest income makers in this way if they come crawling back with tails between their legs.

What will probably happen though is changes at higher board level of these clubs so that the people then in charge can be sufficiently distanced from this disastrous turn of affairs.

Project big picture in October was a dry run to gain sufficient power to ensure they could leave without a hitch.

They will u-turn now and look like heroes only to pull the same stunt down the line, or at the next tv deal refuse to sign contracts unless they earn the lions share of broadcast money.

Points deduction is the the only way to deter. It won’t happen though.

Nothing will happen. I'm certain of it.

Yup, zero chance of anything more than a slap on the wrist and about a 1% chance of even that.
