I have 100% faith in the Premier League doing the right thing and banning Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid from the league...

You know which teams I’m referring to regarding the premier league.... I’m meaning the principle of taking action against teams bringing the game into disrepute.

I know, I know. I was just making the point that I think no action of any consequence will be taken by the premier league against the English clubs. The Premier League will do anything to weasel out of it without punishing them in a suitable way. A fine, that means nothing, is about the worst they'll do, in my opinion.

They should get banned from European competition, but it won't be the same champions league without those sides commercially at least. Think that's what it'll come down to as it's not just banning one team and has to be applied to the 12 clubs who wanted to break away.

Commercially is all that matters to those who now run the game, unfortunately, we all know that.

So Premier League....how’s about you take lead out of UEFA’s book (if they are banning the 3 clubs that is).

Next thing you know they're thrown into the Europa League with us lol

From bbc

The other nine clubs involved - Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid - have been punished by European football's governing body for their participation.

They have agreed to make a combined 15m euro (£13.4m) goodwill contribution to benefit children's and grassroots football across Europe.

They will also have 5% of Uefa competition revenues withheld for one season, starting in 2023-24, and this money will be redistributed, including in the UK.

Each has also committed to Uefa and its competitions, with the clubs facing fines of 100m euros (£86.9m) apiece if they seek to join an unauthorised competition in the future. They will be fined half that if they breach any other terms of the declaration.

A combined 15m euro fine lol That'll hurt them, an whole 1.5m euros each club. Premier league will still do nothing. They'll feel they don't have to after UEFA's cop out.

You do realise that these three are specifically being pursued now because they still haven’t renounced the ESL ?  The others are already dealt with and their knuckles went red for five seconds as a consequence.....

It's a shame as what those club's owners tried to do is overhaul the whole system of football and it's been taken lightly. I'm not saying this as a Leicester fan who wants to see us in the CL at the expense of one of those teams but rather as a football fan who wants them punished for even thinking of such an idea.

Oh I know you were joking and it was a tongue in cheek comment but I thought it raised some interesting points and questions as I made in my post.

I was regarding more the scuffle last week re: Chelsea and a potential docking of points that as I keep saying won't happen.

The punishment for the greedy 6 is long gone, nothing of note will be done now regarding that.

100% agree but the opinion of the media, pundits and powers that be have now set a precedent of having the opinion that 'you can't dock point, all it does is punish fans and players of the club of which they've done no wrong'.

I reckon, all the small clubs, presently being find, for various reasons, Plus the other at  moment innocent clubs...

should refuse to pay anything, until the Super-League clubs, are hit with an heavy fine & punishment...

its unfair also on the fans of the smaller clubs, when their Management are deemed to have broken some rule Or other..

Or it Just means...The  Super-league as arrived already  for punishment regulations....!!

Yes I appreciate that too. Am I wrong for wanting the others to still face more significant punishment than just wrapped knuckles?

No punishment, which is what I expected all along, just reinforces the Greedy Six’s opinion of themselves and the reality that they are untouchable, which actually makes the ESL or something similar more likely and not less.

not wrong but don’t hold your breath......

uefa have finished and the prem punishment will be forward looking ref possible future sanctions rather than punishment for what has gone before ....

I couldn't agree with you more. That said, not a single fan of any of the other 86 league clubs doesn't feel the same. It's enraging that they'll be able to walk away from their actions. They will do though.

We, Leicester City, along with many other similar clubs, make the Premier League what it is. Financially though, those six clubs are the ones that bring in the massive markets across Europe (not Spurs so much, and I don't say that just for a laugh either), Asia and, well, just about everywhere else, with their legions of glory hunting fans. Every sad picture you see of some massive rubbish dump in Africa on the news has a bloke in the background with a Man Utd or Arsenal top on (the Arsenal tops show you just how long it takes those tops to filter down to those people, they've been garbage for years) rummaging through trash to make a living. They didn't buy those football tops, but somebody did, that's the point.

Those megaclubs, for want of a better word, hold so much financial clout for the Premier League that they'll never be suitably punished.

I hate it, you hate it, everyone hates it, but the dice are loaded against everyone else unfortunately.

The toothlessness of the football authorities is quite astounding. I think they know they haven't given themselves a sound legal footing and any punishment will be met with legal challenges from a group of owners more than happy to pour cash into dragging out a lengthy legal battle as that's a great way for the owners to flex their muscle. That's why they've essentially had to go back and "rewrite" the rules to strengthen their hand in the future.

To think back in the 1990's, AC Milan were banned from European Football for a year for refusing to play the last 2 minutes of a match because of a floodlight failure. The "punishments" being metered out now are laughable.

UEFA are the ones that have ruined football with their own pursuit of the £££s.  The prize money for the European competitions far outstrips domestic league rewards so they've made these clubs unobtainably rich richer than themselves and their own income now depends on these clubs. This has forced them to continually concede concessions, with their coefficients etc to them making them richer and safer in their pursuit of riches. This has attracted the worlds money men with little or no interest in football  as they can see there's easy money to be made.

Sadly it would appear barring a catastrophic financial collapse of professional football it's too late to reset the clock.

I agree regarding UEFA Davie. They've been the major cause of where we are now.

Each establishment down the line (or pyramid, if you like) takes their own little bit too and it becomes self perpetuating.

It's easy to forget the Premier League has sold it's soul a number of times too though, in a wanton pursuit of money. Yeah, that's business, I hear people yell, but they've kept milking the cow. We all know what happens when you do that.

It's an unholy mess and there's no going back. That catastrophic financial collapse you refer to surely has to happen at some stage anyway. It's beyond repair.

Went on a little there, I should really have just said 'you're right Davie', because UEFA are far and away the most guilty

PL should definitely deduct points from Chelsea now. Relegate them to fifth. Leicester goes up to fourth. All should be happy.

A 2pt dock for another mass brawl.

I'm pretty sure even Chelsea wouldn't complain after tonight to wipe that slate clean. :D

Yeah, 2 points deduction seems fair. They started it.
