Peak for me was towards the end of last season when he dropped the line “when I came in here, this was a club just happy to survive in this division and now it’s a club disappointed not to be challenging for trophies”. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Yes it was this, and in this period, where the fence I was sitting on suddenly broke...But even then I will stipulate all ,but all managers, come out with absolute twaddle,no matter how successfull,or holding onto the reigns.

Fans agree , with "their" boss if ranging in top 8 ,and if bottom half, then spit fire & venom..It's simply Ways of the world..

This is all the perfect example of Rodgers superb PR on himself.

Like i've said before i'm by no means his biggest critic on here but it hurts to see a manager in interviews put himself so much before anything else. I've never seen it before. It infuriated me when we were doing well but it's kind of one of those things you put up with as part of the deal. But last year when we had a disaster of a season and the first thing he did was say 8th place finish and the clubs first ever Euro Semi. No. Just no. Don't you dare. Complete spin and it's been the same all summer. Instead of working with a talented squad and managing the scenario, it's all bee about letting the whole world know we are shit. Before we had even lost a single player there were discussions on the radio and tv about Leicester losing everyone. All these pundits stating what an Elite manager Brendan is and how it's not his fault.

I've never actually known a fanbase have such a different perspective to the outside world about their club. He's brilliant at this and it will serve his career well. Just a shame he isn't as good at a lot of the other stuff.

Yes we have seen it before, all of us have gone to school or worked with someone like Rodgers and his oversized ego, those of us who are parents have experienced the "it's not my fault" routine, even when they are bang to rights.  I think Rodgers is not unique in the coach/manager world of football, but he is dialed up to 11 like Spinal Tap.  Personally I think we have a manager who suffers from "small man syndrome":

"Small Man Syndrome refers to a condition where a man feels inadequate because of his short height and may try to overcompensate it with overly aggressive behaviour. The syndrome is often referred to as Napoleon Complex in reference to the famous military leader".

Substitute the overly aggressive behaviour to an over sized ego, then you have Brendon Rodgers.

P.S. Apologies to other small people, no small person was hurt posting this on FT.

Doesn't surprise me that he's contradicted himself there.

Surely he could have just said 'we'll be looking to get the maximum points from each game' instead of tying himself up saying he doesn't set targets?

'Noise and pressure is from the outside.'

'But from the inside, the pressure is there...'

Another contradiction...?

Maybe be a better manager and contain that pressure, do something to stop losing leads nearly every single game!

If money is the issue it makes you wonder if the supporters can make life so uncomfortable for Rodgers that he does resign instead of waiting for the Boot. We'd all be doing Top and the Club a favour?

He’s sets seasonal targets, he doesn’t set targets for a specific group of games

Please tell me these comments are fake. 40 points?!? OK we didn't strengthen over the summer but why would anyone in their right mind set a points target of 40 when you've just finished the previous season 8th having had a majority of your best players out through injury most of the season. No wonder we are where we are if this is the manager's aspiration with arguably our best ever squad. The guy's an absolute clown who is bringing everyone down and this needs addressing ASAP. The sooner he's gone the better.

The true target should be 60 and at least a europa league place… 40 is ridiculous. Of course right now, I would take it though lol
