Smith is a too much of a nice guy which probably was his downfall in the end at Villa. After the departure of Grealish I think he really struggled to lift the dressing room. With the squad Villa have they should be doing soo much better. I think at Villa they'll me be more reaction under Gerrard. While at Norwich, I'm not sure if that's appointment in the right direction. I'm very surprised Smith has landed a role so quickly in the premier league, Norwich is doomed is anyway and I'm not convinced Smith management style will either. I'm surprised they overlooked former Norwich player Mark Robins whose being doing wonders at Cov and shown under tight budgets and surrounding off the field problems managed to achieve success. Think he would have been a better fit at present.

What game is this? The only relegation rival they have played at home is Watford. They lost 3-1. And scored after 30 odd minutes. They played two strikers and four at the back

Sorry slightly hazy, looking back it looks like it was Brighton, even worse as it was a team that had absolutely nothing to play for. The one and only shot on target came in 45th minute.

He dropped Pukki for Drmic who did absolutely nothing. I thought after weeks of negative football that he would finally go for it and try and win a game, then they came out and whimpered through the game. They didn't even win a corner lol

It was laughably pathetic. Anyone that tries to tell me that Norwich played attacking football but ultimately werent good enough is talking out their arse.

They were drab, defensive and basically rolled over for teams.

What like ManC?

I don't think anybody seriously think they'll sign Haarland but Tielemans isn't a bad shout.

Where's he realistically going to go that's objectively better than here (if we continue the form we've shown over the last few years and club ambitions)? Liverpool? I can't see him at ManC or ManU. One of the big European sides maybe? Barca' might buy him but while I rate Tielemans I don't think he's good enough or consistent enough to take those midfield leadership roles in the big clubs. We knew in that one year Kante and Mahrez were basically gone. I don't get that same feeling from Tielemans. HOWEVER he'd be perfect for a team that had a LOT of money and needed to essentially build a team from scratch. Not to win the CL or PL, none of that massive pressure top club expectation but to drive a club up the table. He would be a good stepping stone for NUFC but like Kompany has every chance to become a long term player and legend once they shift gears to competing for the PL/CL.

This is waffle, Youri wouldn’t go anywhere near Newcastle, firstly he’s a top pro so he would want to go to a club with pedigree and an established top team. I know for a fact Liverpool are interested in him as I know someone heavily involved with Liverpool and he’s been a player they have been watching for a while.

In terms of Man City you can’t compare them to Newcastle other than the fact they’ve been procured by a Middle Eastern consortium….. Man City were always going to be taken over by a huge consortium, because their direct rival is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so there is your challenge.

Newcastle? They’ve got a big stadium and more fans than Sunderland…. Other than that, there is nothing going for them. I honestly don’t think it will change anything for them, they will just be rich and shit rather than just shit, they’re going down this season anyway……

Pretty sure some clubs get away with a lot more. Seems ridiculous.

Was going to say.

Don’t remember hearing about a lot of trouble either .

Some West Ham fans reckon it’s an excuse to stop them travelling due to COVID as Austria have gone into lockdown again .

For the record, Austria has not gone into lock-down for double jabbed persons.  The lock down effects only those people who some reason have declined to be vaccinated. So I doubt very much this is the reason for this Banning order.

Well, even if we do crash out of the Europa we can hold our heads high that we have not yet been banned from an entire European city.

Early days. Some demos in Vienna on Sunday on Human rights issues and freedom of choice etc.  Austria has past experience of isolating large numbers of it’s population. They did a very good number on the Austrian Jewish Community 1938-1940.  The next step will probably be to make the unvaccinated persons wear yellow stars on their coats. The police are carrying out spot checks on bars, restaurants and public transport and are ‘apparently’ dishing out the Euro 1400 fines.   Fortunately, where I live is extremely rural so I do not see any protesting or trouble. I am having my booster next week so I am for sure allowed outside after dark at the moment🙂.   Austria has the lowest take-up in the EU which is why this emergency law has been brought in.

if any Hammers fans still come and cause trouble in Vienna they will get rounded up and carted off.  The police are total cvnts here.

It's pretty brutal, I don't agree with this course of action and I can't help but feel that a country with a low take up from the off is hardly going to take too kindly to being forced through discrimination in to having it. Has a law been passed to dish out these fines or is it just piggy backing on the fines from lockdowns before? I just can't comprehend how a law can pass where someone is fined/classed as breaking the law for not having a vaccination and using public facilities. It's absolutely wild.

The government are describing this lockdown as new ‘rules’ and ‘COVID ‘measures’’ - but there are set fines for being in breach of the lockdown regulations. Difficult to police unless you are caught inside a bar or restaurant,  although the Police will wack the bar/restaurant owner too, as they are supposed to check customers are double vaccinated before serving them.  It is back door pressure to get people vaccinated and upset West Ham supporters😜

Just noticed there some SA world Cup qualifiers rearranged for 27th Jan and 1st Feb.

Primarily Liverpool and Man City most likely to be affected with their South American contingent.

Is this why there are no PL and FA Cup games scheduled for that weekend?

I asked why there were no PL games that weekend on here a few weeks back and that is the explanation I got. So yes, that is why there is a 2 week gap.

PL 22nd/23rd Jan

Weekend off

FA Cup 5th/6th Feb

PL midweek 9th/10th
