Just waiting on Daley-Campbell to complete the day of exits then?

Seems to be the only rumour left unless there is a very late one out of nowhere

Thought this would happen in the summer, but did expect it to be Burton

Good luck to the lad, I was really hoping we'd give him another year's extension.. still rate him massively

Do you reckon it's a club decision not to let them or there's a reluctance from lower league clubs to take players on loan aged 17-19?

Maswanhise, Wanya Marca and Ben Nelson all would have been an asset to a good League One side, possibly even lower end Championship side. Seems teams prefer to loan them when 20-22 which is frustrating.

Don’t see why they wouldn’t benefit from even a conference loan

Surely it must be about them not being quite physically ready? 17 year olds are still experiencing changes, particularly to their bones, even if they're stopped growing any taller - for some people this doesn't finish until the mid-20s. I can't say I'm an expert but I'd think this makes the possibility of serious injuries higher, and combined with potentially being mentally unready and poorer facilities and care at a lower level, it would make sense that clubs would be concerned about playing late teenagers. After all, it's not just us: I'd imagine you can count the number of 17-19 year olds playing regular professional football in the UK on two hands. Probably makes more sense to just train them with your own first team, where can keep an eye on them.

Yeah, especially U18's there has to be insurance/liability concerns. Most of these guys are still living at home, too, and I don't know if any of the U18's are still in school. I think it would be easier it was London or Birmingham, where you have a choice of lower division clubs that you could loan a lad to, but he wouldn't have to move out of the house or have an hour+ commute.

Maswanhise is the one who I think would most benefit, since he seems to not be training with the first team. Wanya Marca and Nelson are at least improving themselves that way.

I think it's a bit of both. You have to remember young players are basically Students.

The Club wont let them go out until their happy that the young player has developed his knowledge of the game well enough, And feel that they can benefit from proper competitive games.

The lower leagues clubs are a little reluctant in taking young players because it can be pretty brutal in a professional capacity in the lower leagues.

Also they have to be sure the players can physically handle the physical side of the game. Generally by nature young players are 8 to 9 stone in weight coming  up against Men who are often 10 to 14 stone on average.

Very often it's a real eye opener for the young players coming from a cosseted environment like our new training ground, Then going to some of the shit holes who have poor facilities and up against Men who resent the little upstart coming in to take their place or show them up in games.

Sometimes I think the big clubs send players out as much to wake them from their cosy life experience as much as to expand their football knowledge.

A case in point is Harry Kane who credits Pearson as the person who taught him what he needed to do to become a top player. He said Pearson opened his eyes during his time on loan with us. As to what he needed to do when he got back to Spurs. He said he got his head down and worked harder than ever and the rest is history.as they say.

All of the above play a part in why very often talented juniors fall away from the game and we also get some late developers.

They've also got to take into account his set up away from the club, accommodation, support and everything associated with their Duty of Care responsibilities they can't just assume the club loaning them will manage that.

Yeah 17 is probably too young, but I don't think 18/19, even 20 is? There's a real balance between getting first team football or stagnating in the U23's and then losing any momentum in progression. It's very very rare to see PL academy players go out aged 21/22 for the first team and then excel, KDH is the outlier.

I don't know what the answer is, but let's see these 17-20 year old were released from us, where would they end up? You're not telling me they'd not have a plethora of lower league teams desperate to have a look at them. Maybe they'd only initially start in their U23 teams and perhaps there lies the problem, not yet ready to immediately go in to the first team which is fair enough.

The hype machines like Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea will all have their young players being queued up for and it's often reputation that drives this. We for too long retained our youngsters but we are trying to get more and more out earlier so I don't think it's from a want of trying.

Quite true and rightly so.

I'd like to see the Clubs prepare them for a career away from Football by insisting that they do either an academic course or a Trade Course.

As too many end up released by Clubs with no training for the outside world or work place.

Hopefully we put something in place like Palace have

Yes this is exactly the type of support Clubs should be providing. I'd still make players do a Course of sorts to help with any disappoint.

After all ,  Knowledge is no load to carry.

He said it in an interview after he started to make a breakthrough at Spurs.

I'm sure you'll find it if you do a search.
