Must start at villa if Tielemans is still out, and it sounds like he will be.  Soumare really has not got up to speed yet.  Very lethargic.  KDH was very positive when he came on.  Given a full half tather than 5 or 10 mins this time and looked decent and played positively. Does seem to get knocked off the ball a bit though.

As I watched the game go on I was struck by the number of 'Lurches' on the pitch - Saint's players who resembled Hasenhüttl himself - big, ugly fvckers who would have looked more at home in a boxing ring or in Bath's scrum.

We got one of them this summer - Vestergaard.

His presence in the second half transformed the team. His passing was superb.

Amazing in this age of 'foreign' dominated teams that there were three Leicestershire native Leicester City protégés playing in a Premier level match.

4 if you count Che Adam’s

KDH is what we need in midfield. As others have said, someone who is positive and helps teammates with passing options. The latter is what we lack severely. Ndidi always seem nervous and does not want the ball. Soumare a bit better but he is still getting up to speed with the pace of our game. If you watch the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool, they can transition quickly and well from the back because all their players move together and show themselves for the ball. This gives the player with the ball, at any time, multiple options to make a pass. This really helps the team with defeating the press from the opposition.  For us, for far too long, we had to resort to sideway or backward passes not only because we are conservative (so until the last two games we do not do long balls much), but because we have little movements and passing options. If the team work together and show themselves for the ball more, it helps unlock defences and the opposition press.

We were so much better in the second half after KDH came on because he wanted the ball, but that is not the key, the key was that he gave an additional option for a pass. It frees up other players too by doing so.

It is unfortunate that Ndidi is a bit of a liability still at the moment because he does not want the ball, otherwise we may see an even better midfield performance. This is something to think about. Maybe Soumare is the better of the two, on balance.

I like KDH and think he has potential, but one or two on here are going a little overboard after a good 45 minutes.  Just wait until he puts in a bad 45 minutes, some on here will want to bin him 'tout de suite'.  Lets give him a little patience, he will have s**t games as he adjusts and starts to find his feet.

What most of us like more than anything is his intensity, constant running, clear desire. Soumare ain't up to speed yet. Everyone else besides Maddison was largely lethargic yesterday besides kdh. The basics are essential and he did them very well

Exactly. He's not spectacular by himself but his energy helps us a great deal. He makes others better around him.

Even if he's inconsistent at least we know he can thrive at this level.

I don't disagree that he looked hungry, BTW most of our players looked half arsed, Ndidi springs to mind!  But lets not judge KDH only on a good 45 mins, I think some need to stop this hero to zero after every performance and have more of a balanced view.

Maddison also grew up around the corner (a crap corner but very close)

Yes - I was counting four and then I thought, "I've overcounted" - realising I'd included Maddison in my home grown group . I just checked and found out he's a 'Coventry Kid', so he's a poor cousin :).

I worked there for 20 years - when Cov City were still a 1st Division fixture. A good example of how not to run a club.

Having three local Leicestershire lads on the pitch last night and on Saturday, plus another on the bench is something to be proud of.

Our academy takes a beating on here at times but I think that is a fantastic achievement.

I bet it’s produced over £150m in assets over the last decade.

It certainly is more than justifying its existence.

It’s time for him to have a run in the side.

Now we have a deep squad we should have no qualms about dropping anyone. Barnes, Maddison, Nacho have all been dropped at various times and come back stronger. Soumare has played tons of games since joining but not set the world alight. Give KDH his chance and let’s see what he can do.

Most likely the two battle it out between themselves for who gets that spot for the season with no real clear winner but that’s ok. Healthy competition is good.

KDH reminds me of Barnes when he came back from WBA. Has moments of quality but not quite there yet. But Barnes got there through an extended run in the side. Can KDH do the same? It’s more than possible

Not much more he can do to earn a start, his attiutude is absolutely bang on and we need a lot more of the squad to adopt a similart attitude. He's barely played in the past 6 months so his technique and match sharpness will improve with game time.

He looks good and progressive on the ball. I wonder if Brendan's reticence has been more about the defensive side of his game? Which is ironic, as Soumare, despite his physique, is not overly effective out of possession either. I'd give him a start next match if Youri isn't playing.

Not getting the hype about Dewsbury-Hall at all. He is fine, but not a world beater, for me he's fairly average in all areas. On the other hand he's got to worth giving a try over Soumaré, who is surely the much more talented of the two, but who is woefully out of form and short on confidence, he has not stepped up at all in recent games. Both of them make you realise how lucky we are to have Youri...

Not for long ,Youri is on his way and things will change .KDH will never do what Youri can and neither will Soumaré. We  are going to have to spend every penny we get for Youri if we want a like for like. KDH could use Mason Mount as an example of what a hard working  midfielder can achieve even if you don't have the magic touch.

Brendan praised KDH highly last night. He could be an important player in the second half of the season. He's clearly hungry to play, his positive attitude and energy on the pitch last night changed the game. I think Ndidi and Soumare should in theory be a solid patnership, but last night it didn't work, they were both way off the pace.
