Fox in the North Posted 5 July 2021 Posted 5 July 2021 This is going to make things interesting. Obviously it’s very unlikely we’ll get near Coutinho but Barcelona’s financial situation could open up some other opportunities.

I know they are trying to release Umtiti and Pjanic (wouldn't touch either of them) Should try and get a cheeky deal with them for Coutinho 1
UHDrive Posted 5 July 2021 Posted 5 July 2021 Anyone know of any other clubs that are in the running for him? If not I'd accept a year loan for £150k per week. 1
Scotch Posted 5 July 2021 Posted 5 July 2021 If anything, this makes it LESS likely we would get him IMO. For him to come here on loan, Barca would of had to pay a % of his wages.... but getting wages off the payroll is what they need to do so they would surely want him to go to a club who can pay all of them. 1

I can't see them finding someone to pay all of his wages though, close to £400k a week Best they are going to get is someone paying a portion of it with a loan fee - which in their current situation would be better than having to keep him for around for another season Edited 5 July 2021 by moore_94 3
Sly Posted 6 July 2021 Posted 6 July 2021 I could see him going to Everton. It’s their sort of signing and he’ll fit right in with Richarlason, Rodriguez etc 3

Hardly a shower of shite is it? He knows as well as anyone that he needs to perform this year. 19

I suspect there are plenty of other Prem players doing exactly the same thing at this time . 1
Reg Vardy Posted 6 July 2021 Posted 6 July 2021 Assume Madders would be in the clear if he was in Skeggy…. 3

One thing is sure here - Barcelona are a shadow of the club they were six years ago. They're a disgrace to football.

Better the devil you know , especially as we would need to fork out another 175 ,000 a week. We are not that stupid. 1

JamesfromlondonLCFC Posted 6 July 2021 Posted 6 July 2021 It's insane that there actually appear to be people who believe football players aren't even allowed to have fun

Footballers by their very position are in the public eye, and this will always attract (often over the top)criticism, just as film stars, NBA stars, etc do. Basically such roles are judged by the kangaroo court of public opinion, it might not be right, but its hardly a suprise.

It's quite possible that this is also why Messi hasn't extended his contract yet. It seems to be fairly universally accepted that since they swapped presidents and signed his best mate he'd like to stay. But I highly doubt he's offered to take a massive wage cut. They're no doubt trying to wiggle as much room in the books as possible.

I think people just question his character, as to what type of fun he is having in the public eye, with having a pregnant girlfriend at home. I guess we don’t really know what goes on though. FoxOnWheels Posted 6 July 2021 Posted 6 July 2021 Couldn’t give a fvck what Maddison does in his spare time not worth stressing over, only care how he plays 3

However, he must be somewhat naive if he thinks making the papers for the wrong reasons is not going to have an adverse impact on his career. It also isn't the publicity the club will look favourably upon, I wouldn't have thought. 1
