Could see a loan, no one is buying him, his on mega wages and just coming back from injury.

Best Barc can hope for is loaning him out and get someone to contribute a % of his wages

Coutinho's skill is never in doubt as is his lack of physicality. He has been found out in Spain and in Germany .Not his fault he is a small guy but we need more not less power in midfield.

But he was absolutely outstanding in the Premier League.

The division we play in, in case you weren't aware.

Wouldn't say he was found out in Germany, statistically he was very good for Bayern:

League: 23 appearances (14 starts, 1,414 minutes played - 15.7 games) - 8 goals and 6 assists - goal contribution every 101 minutes

Champions League: 11 appearances (5 starts, 515 minutes played - 5.7 games) - 3 goals and 3 assists - goal contribution every 86 minutes

Cup: 4 appearances (2 starts, 216 minutes played - 2.4 games) - 0 G/A

Total: 38 appearances (27 starts, 2,145 minutes played - 23.8 games played) - 11 goals and 9 assists - goal contribution every 107 minutes

His stats for Barcelona this season before his injury aren't horrendous either - in an underperforming Barcelona team:

League: 12 appearances (8 starts, 656 minutes played - 7.3 games) - 2 goals and 2 assists - goal contribution every 164 minutes

Champions League: 2 appearances (2 starts, 136 minutes played - 1.5 games) - 1 goal - goal contribution every 136 minutes

Total: 14 appearances (10 starts, 792 minutes played - 8.8 games) - 3 goals and 2 assists - goal contribution every 158 minutes

that small guy was absolutely red hot at Liverpool.

Hes certainly no less physical than Maddison  or Perez but arguably a better player

Would cost about £40m just to pay up his remaining contract at Barce. Barce are in no financial position to play hardball. Offer them a 2 year loan and we pay £20m a year for the loan which covers his wages and then we get him on a free when his contract expires.

I know this would never happen. Realistically, we are never going to be able to afford Coutinho. And with his injury concerns and his lack of form recently, I'm not sure its a risk worth taking for the amount it would cost.

How did Rodriguez end up at Everton though? Is the situation similar?

Possibly but Everton have massively overspent and its got them nowhere. I also think Coutinho is probably on double what James was on at Real.

He has had 3 seperate surgeries on his knee since January...

Sky Sports article from 26th May

"However, the 28-year old will miss this summer's Copa America tournament after undergoing arthroscopic surgery last month, his third knee surgery since January, and it is unlikely his future will be decided for at least another eight weeks as his rehabilitation continues."

That would be a concern, definately would make me think again.

This transfer window is either going to be our best and most exciting ever or one massive anti-climax. Strap yourselves in for an interesting few weeks!
