What do you change to try and make us go that one step further? Or do we just go again one year older and wiser for the world cup?

Well basically yeah, what else are we supposed to do? Rip it all up and start again under Wilder/Howe?

Hopefully we put an actual football manager in charge of the team. Much like Italy have. When it comes down to it, Southgate has shit the bed, completely.

Shots fired!

Maybe Southgate has done his bit and created a positive culture to then hand the reigns over to someone with a bit more experience and tactical nous? That's not to say he can't learn with the players but I really feel he got so much wrong tonight

Best England team since 1966

Semi final in 2018. Final in 2021.

Achieved more than the golden generation. Remember the golden generation couldn't get past 1/4 finals in three consecutive tournaments.

Achieved more than the overhyped 1996 team.

Harry Kane will become top scorer soon.

The good times are here to stay for a few more years.

Whilst that's true, we barely fired a warning shot in that final after the 2nd minute. Opportunity badly missed. Allowed Italy to dominate possession and it was nearly impossible to change the flow after the equaliser. Did anyone really expect Pickford to outdo Donnaruma in a penalty shootout? I didn't.

The players and team are fine, I now agree with the many who think Southgate is too conservative. A final place will wrongly be looked at as progression, when, with a bit more attacking intent, we could have won the tournament.

Anyone fancy sitting on the bench for 118 minutes, then being asked to take a penalty in a shootout with practically your first touch? Me neither.

Yeah I quite like the team and the individuals involved, get an actual manager and they’re more than good enough to get over the line

Shame Pearson took the Bristol city job, he would’ve been perfect. He definitely wouldn’t just play the likes of Mount cos they play for Chelsea.
