I am not sure if most of the domestic fans can figure out what these wins can bring internationally.

I mean, in 2021 the glorious Real Madrid won nothing, the mighty Barcelona won one trophy and the minor Leicester city won TWO trophies .

Leicester city fan base all over the world is going to expand dramatically with such wins.

They all looked delighted, Daka especially. It will make them all think it was the right move to make and all 3 will be buzzing. All of them seemed to have adapted quite quickly and I think that will do all 3 an enormous deal of good, because all 3 came on and made an impact in the game.

I’ve never really understood the obsession Leicester fans have with thinking the media have this huge agenda of hatred against us. First sky sports now ITV apparently, thank god we’ve got Gaz on BBC otherwise there’d be some serious meltdowns!

Ehh, it's not that. ITV are just the worst in the book for making every conversation about the "big boys" and it's more through a lack of insight than any sort of agenda. They genuinely don't have a clue about anyone outside the armchair fan's sphere of influence.

Literally took until the penalty for the main narrative to be about us. They spent 15 minutes of pre-match talking about Kane when he isn't even a player for either club. The Grealish thing, fair enough, it's the biggest story of the day, but they were talking about him constantly when there were on-field matters to discuss. And when Daka came on, they talked about him for 20 seconds then filled the next minute by talking about Erling Haaland.

It's not an agenda against us. It's just a complete dearth of actual tactical analysis or knowledge of how either team play, which they fill by resorting to grabbing the nearest newspaper to see what's in the headlines.

Lets talk tactics for a bit, because I feel the emotion of winning again will overlook that aspect of the game today.

 

In 2019 we were riding high in the league and played Man City away, trying to play 4231 and assert our game on Man City. We got battered. We tried to play it a few other times too and always got given a hiding. Then Rodgers switched to 3 at the back with an all out counter attacking system against them last season, and it worked spectacularly with a 5-2 win.

 

But if you want to be a truly top team you need to be able to play your game against anyone and dictate the match. Today we did that! Sure it was Man City's B team, but they still had Mahrez (one of our best ever players), Cancelo, Fernandino, Ruben Dias and Gundogan. We were missing Fofana and Evans through injury!

 

First half was a seriously impressive performance, and for me the most exciting thing about the whole day. The teams that finished above us all have amazing squads, but our squad is very good too. And it's a squad filled with team players, not individuals, and that gives us more than half a chance.

 

I admire Brendan for his tactical approach today, and also think he made sensible subs. Second half we lost control of the game, but I felt after about 5 minutes of the subs coming on they all made a big difference. Sharky, KDH, Thomas and Nacho all turned up the pressing and got us moving forwards again. A good example of that was Nacho losing the ball, but them immediately tracking back to win it back again. I also think that Rodgers deserves respect for putting two strikes on the pitch to try and win the game, when it would be so easy to play for penalties.
