Imo we need someone up front who is good on the ball. Don't have to be fast. Just good on the ball. Think Alan Smith, Mike Newell, David Kelly (to an extent), Tony Cottee, Kevin Phillips. Steve Claridge was fairly good on the ball. Also someone who takes a chance and anticipates things. Maybe won't score 20 goals a season but will bring other players in.

That finish against West Ham was a total fluke wasn't it.

Indeed, it's no good scoring one wonder goal a season but missing easy chances into treble figures each season. I can't believe he's still here tbh - the Danny Ward equivalent in attack!

Tiatto and Hume immediately spring to mind.

Daka isn’t great as a forward and I think he’d be better as a wide player. Only challenge, I’ve no idea if he can actually beat a full back or cross!

Tiatto wasn't here for long though and Hume had more decent games than bad from memory - unlike Daka when he plays!

That opportunity in the 2nd half summed up his time here, a chance to score and he somehow managed to barely connect and somehow hit it behind him as some sort of scuffed clearance.

We need to cut our losses, I really cannot see him coming good and being consistent, he will have the odd game or moments where he shows what he is capable of but sadly it’s too little and too often and for an outlay of +£20m and £70-80k a week in wages it’s just not value for money.

oh and if IIRC he was on £7k a week at Salzburg and Rudkin offered a long term contract of circa 10 times that to secure his services when we could have probably got him for less than half that amount, if that isn’t negligent then what is

I'm gonna try to be fair and offering OTT money was our way of persuasion. Pretty blunt instrument but it worked with Fofana. And  Maddison. Kante. And many others.

It's the lack of business acumen that fails to see that persuasion of that sort isn't always needed. Sometimes bluffs need to be both played and called. Rudkin isn't qualified to do that. He has no track record in business.

I think his agent would point out that 60k a week is average for a PL player. So 70/80k for a 25M signing ithat plays striker is to be expected. If you don’t like it someone else will

Vardy is special and we won’t replace him unfortunately.

I don’t need convincing of that, just pointing out what the club has done.

It would take immense pressure off the team having a striker who can win a header from a goal kick

Could you put Akinbyi and Iheanacho on this spreadsheet too, please?

I'm serious-  i want to see if my memory is correct and Akinbyi really was that bad!

I think most, if not all of those are retired now. 😁

Although even now I think they all score that chance at Liverpool.

That scuffed shot was so poor. In a game when chances are so few you have to step up in those moments and it was poor and happens again and again with him. Cut our losses.

Also when we had a good counter attack in the second half, he gets the ball and instead of carrying it forward he stops and squares it to the running Mavadidi instead of into space, Mav has to stop and the ball gets sent back. Brain dead player.

He just doesn't offer much in any facet of forward play. He can't shoot, control a ball or even take up clever positions. He's unbelievably limited. Defenders only need to be wise to his bit of gas. But that's it. As even if he does find space he will likely miss hit / shank what comes next. Depressing player to watch.

Even with his ‘pace’, it’s been very rare that we’ve seen it over the last few years. Can’t think of many occasions where we’ve seen him put it to good use.

we can never know the mental state of pro footballers.

Like Ward... he isnt the worst player in the league...but a couple of years of failed attempts may have destroyed any chance of success here.

I’ve just gone and checked myself. Akinbiyi was bad.
