I genuinely don't know who you want instead of Lookman who would improve us beyond what you expect?

Would Neres have been any better? A lad who had 1 good season and has been pretty average since, no premier league experience but hey, he's Brazilian :dunno:

Madueke? An even younger prospect, playing in a poor league which much more to prove, certainly not established in anyway.

Berardi? His price doubled because of the euros but hey, throw money around that we don't have.....

Those three are right-wingers, Lookman is a left-winger.

That’s where the problem lies and that’s why the likes of @FoxyPalace.com are unsurprisingly annoyed.

When everyone is healthy, we’ll have a lot of fullbacks to chose from…

…enter Ricardo at RW. I can’t believe there’s anyone who thinks he wouldn’t be ridiculously effective from there after enough time.

Remember the good old days when right footed players played on the right and left footed players played on the left!

Looks like Sean Dyche has signed up to FT! lol

But you’d be plugging a hole with a player who is one of the best right-backs in the division, therefore taking him out of his strongest position.

We’ve needed a proper RW ever since Mahrez left, yet here we are again, another window gone by and we still haven’t rectified our missing puzzle piece.

Now some fans seem content with signing Lookman, and still having Perez & Albrighton as our main RW options, baffling.

After all our good work in this transfer window, yet again we end a transfer window in underwhelming fashion.

A proper right wing doesn't exist anymore. When Riyad was here we played 442 with inverted wingers. Since he's gone we've switched our style of play, massively.

When we attack down the right we switch shape

                            Vardy

Barnes      Maddison   Perez     Ricardo

               Tielemans

                                    NDidi

     Thomas    Soyuncu     Amartey

Why do we so desperately need a right winger?

This is the thing that I feel keeps getting overlooked.

Forgive my crude depiction above, but that's basically how we play.

Replace Perez with Lookman and let him roam free ish with Maddison and we should, hopefully, look very threatening going forward.

Of course, Rodgers may well have a different plan. But me, with my extensive top tier football knowledge, gained from well over 2 decades of playing football manager games of various different names, that's how I'd see us line up

This is a fair point, because that is our attacking shape. Perez moves in field so Ricardo can provide the overload.

But in this example, Perez still doesn't contribute enough; 2 goals and 1 assist is less output than Jonny Evans! Dennis Praet IMO could and should have been tried for an extended run in the team but Rodgers thought otherwise. Coutinho could have done it, but he won't be coming here.

Perhaps though if we had the mirror image of Barnes, that player could still offer more goal contributions even if they cut inside. Many of the player we were linked to also play in teams that do similar things; Neres, Madeuke, Berrardi for example.

So you’re more than happy to see Perez continue to play there?

Wait I've checked and Lookman is Right footed.....then again so is Barnes...whats the harm in playing a right footed player on the right who can whip in crosses?

He looks fairly comfortable with his left too. I wouldn't say he's two footed but he's definately capable with the left peg.

Didn't say that, but if Lookman is coming in to replace Perez then that's not an issue is it?

He is one of the best RBs around, absolutely. And he would also be a phenomenal RW. Justin at RB with Ricky at RW would be lethal.

Has anyone questioned why RB are willing to let Lookman go, albeit on loan?

Loaned last year to Fulham, didn’t they buy him (amongst loads of others) to develop?

I always said to my Son he would never make it as a footballer but after watching Perez play for us I’ve told him even I could

I am in my 50s with arthritic knees.  Perez has inspired me to keep my phone on in case Ruskin makes a late move for me.

You know Lookman is far better as a LW right?

In 18/19 he played 34 PL games out of 38 (23 starting and 11 sub).

Was probably he best run in the side, 4 goals, 1 assist.

Genuinely interesting and surprising! Especially the starting stats.

Did he have a run of games? If so how many or was it play one miss one type of thing.

its clear that some posters only have time to click onto a thread and post their thoughts without reading anything - otherwise there is no explanation for what some write

we should all be aware of this and adjust the tone of replies accordingly

of course, some posters will simply be a pain in the ar*e

He's stepping up in coming to us, so hopefully it'll bring about some improvement. I remember him always looking dangerous but not being able to hit a barn door when he was at Fulham. Think he could be decent for us with better players and coaches around him.
