Yeah and Fofana wasn’t fooking established was he.

Urrrrr he came through the ranks to the A team so yes he was established and we paid Established player money for him as proof 🤣

When did I use the word "cheap"?

And to be fair, using Fofana as an example, rams a big dirty boaby right up the arse end of your initial point, which was that we should sign established players. Fofana was in no way Established as a top player.

See you in 12 months for your new assessment 🤩

Equally at any point did we give him a sustained, consistent run of games?

I’d say we never gave him anymore than 2, 3 at the very most in a row, most of the time he was on bench during those 5 years.

I may be totally wrong and tbh I’d genuinely be interested to know most run of games we gave him.

I know what’s gonna come back, “5 managers see him every day, they obviously didn’t see anything in him”. Meanwhile we as fans will see next to nothing from the likes of Maddison and/or Perez and they’ll be given as many games as it takes whenever available.

I gave Gray a lot of patience and time, more than most because I wanted us to sign him years before we did, eventually I lost patience mainly down to a perceived “attitude problem” with Gray but given the things I’ve outlined above, I think I’d have an attitude problem in those circumstances.

The fact Everton fans speak of Lookman the same as how some Leicester fans speak of Gray which is why they’re not getting excited about Gray yet speaks volumes and I think both sets of fans know what they’re going to get.

In 18/19 he played 34 PL games out of 38 (23 starting and 11 sub).

Was probably he best run in the side, 4 goals, 1 assist.

Established top 6 side, should be buying Established players. Lookman isn’t established and has been playing pass the parcel for years at different clubs. I’ll be honest was hoping for a lot better!

Finishing top 6 twice in a row doesn't make you an Established top 6 side.

Arsenal did it 24 time in a row, 24 out of the last 26.

Chelsea 25 time in the last 27

Spurs 10 out of the last 12.

I think people need to accept that, unless the those sides have exceptionally bad seasons, the top 4 is not a reality for us. The amount of money they can throw around dwarves our financial resources, and the sad facts are that money largely dictates the league position because of the quality of players you can accumulate.

I know we won the league, but under exceptional circumstances. I know we narrowly missed out twice & finished 4th. But that only proves my point really because when the going got tough & we suffered injuries we did not have the quality in depth to get us over the line. Whereas the quality that Liverpool & Man Utd had did.

Our fight this year is going to be for 5th with the strength of the teams around us having made significant improvements. I’m looking forward to see how our new players can improve us over the next few months to combat that.

Which were...?

He's better than Perez

I always said to my Son he would never make it as a footballer but after watching Perez play for us I’ve told him even I could

Let's be real. We didn't miss out on top 4 in the 2019/20 season due to injuries. That was just a bottlejob

Don't change the model that got us to a top 6 team. In terms to revenue we're not close to being able to spend what a top 6 team can

Although I've not wanted to entertain it, I still think when we have Ricardo, Castagne and Justin all fit then Rodgers will put Ricardo on the wing as a way of keeping all 3 of them happy. Lookman will then be Barnes cover and impact player.

Ricardo has skill, pace, can defend from the front, has football intelligence (2 assists already this season) and can interchange easily with castagne on that flank. It's not the worst solution.

He got 4 assists last season, nothing to write home about. However, it's fantastic when you consider Perez has 5 assists in 60 league appearances for us 💀

well this is a bit of a comedown after all the links but hey, they earned some trust. as long as he doesnt go directly to the injury list, it should be ok. #TrustinRudkin

Quite like this signing, but will he get a start in front of Perez?

Not unless Ayoze call off the wedding with Brendan

Barnes hasn’t started the season too strongly and maybe needs to ease himself back into fitness. Lookman could be back up for both wings.

I’m looking forward to the meltdown when we start the next game with Lookman on the left and Perez on the right. 😄

Fofana was £30 odd million with add ons, he wasn’t cheap ! But we identified a player that could improve us and paid up. This transfer stinks to be another panic swoop just like the Turkish chap who didn’t offer us anything what’s so ever.

Fofana wasn't an established player that a top 6 side should have bought?

That's your argument isn't it? That we should be buying players that a top 6 team should be bringing in? Varane? Ronaldo? Who exactly do you want?

Fofana was a risk, a calculated one, but still a risk. If you wait until players like become "established" then the fee we paid for Fofana multiplies by 2 at least (in a pre covid world).

We're still Leicester city. Although we are a much more attractive proposition than we were 6 or 7 years ago, we still don't offer the glitz and glam of a Capital based club  the history of United or Liverpool and we certainly do not match any of the big 6 in terms of turn over. We have to be smarter with our money.

I genuinely don't know who you want instead of Lookman who would improve us beyond what you expect?

Would Neres have been any better? A lad who had 1 good season and has been pretty average since, no premier league experience but hey, he's Brazilian :dunno:

Madueke? An even younger prospect, playing in a poor league which much more to prove, certainly not established in anyway.

Berardi? His price doubled because of the euros but hey, throw money around that we don't have.....

I'm warming to this now tbf, a young lad with a bit to prove who looks to be fast, direct and exciting.

The direct and exciting is the bit that is worrying me though as that's exactly what seems to be being coached out of our players for some reason.

?

you can’t get more direct and exciting than  Barnes and he walked straight back into our side after his injury. Our CMs have to be more disciplined but Barnes is proof that Rodgers likes direct and exciting wingers
