Given we haven't sold any key players and who we have already signed this window, we have now got easily the best squad we have ever had.

Newcastle in for David Brooks.

The question we need to ask is, is Brooks a better right winger/ACM than Lookman?

I think pace is the answer, without Barnes we are so one paced.

I think Lookman gives us more of that than Brooks

Yes, that's crossed my mind too. If we do want to go 4-3-3 with Soumare or KDH in instead of Maddison then we need another fast and direct winger playing wide right.

Anyone know how we're going to play this lad? Mostly on the right? On the right, but he'll come a little more centrally? Very curious about how he'll fit into our system.

He'll be a great addition to our bench and treatment tables...

If we play him on the right we should want him to play as wide as possible, get his toes on the touchline and pull the full back out, means Ricardo can still exploit the space in between the full back and the centre back

Newcastle can only afford loan deals or nominal fees, hence why the Choudhiry deal to them was always going to be up in the air as they can't pay a fee. So if Brooks ends up there I can't see how we couldn't have afforded him, his contract is up in the summer.

I agree, I’m not sure why we haven’t taken another look at him…. Like you say if Newcastle are looking at a loan why couldn’t we? The whole right sided attacking player is causing us issues, and I don’t really know why it is? There’s enough talented wide players out there for us to take a punt on, and we seem to be getting it wrong ever since Mahrez left…

@Chocolate Teapot told me about this a couple of weeks ago. Elite level ITK, put some respect on his name.

Brooks is a decent player although he had injury problems which might have put us off a little. I'm sure we will have looked at him before. In any case I would have thought he would be too expensive for ourselves or Newcastle.

Too bad we didn't sign a RW, then.

There's always the first couple of cup rounds and the last 10 minutes when we're losing.

When has playing a player wide right that isn't his best position ever been a problem for Brendan? 😂

I think he could do well for us. As a fan base we shouldn’t shoot players down before they’ve settled in it won’t help.

You are preaching to the converted here but with some of our childish fan base that’s like saying don’t put bangers in bottles or be back home by 10 pm

True enough, but I think he's settled on the one he likes in that respect.

It's just so... unambitious.  Not the sort of signing a team with serious CL aspirations makes.  If we had real ambition we wouldn't look at Ayo and Kevin and say "Eh...good enough, let's strengthen the reserves."  We'd worry about trying to have an 11 with a really good player at every position.

It's official; the 'look man' pun has been done. It can be forgotten now.

(and it wasn't even very good/original/creative in the first place :P)

Hey - you shouldn’t go around telling other people what to do. Not a good look, man.

I'm not excited about this, but we must give the lad a fair chance to prove himself.

There's someone else who has to give him a chance to prove himself, that's who you should be worried about...

Have you not worked it out yet, we just don't have the money.

As others have said, this signing helps balance the side and gives us pace and cover for Barnes without needing to change shape.

Get the feeling we won't move for a £20/30 million RW unless Perez/Albrighton leave the club, this is unlikely to change soon as Perez is 30M white elephant and Albrighton has signed a new contract.

Maybe in Hindsight getting Albrighton on a new contract instead of selling him to Burnley (if true), has put paid to getting a new RW on a permanent transfer.

Unless one of them 2 move on i doubt we will be spending any money on a RW anytime soon.

Sensible signing in Lookman and hope he performs well in a city shirt.
