Oh ok I think the covid rates have gone up but it's not been pin pointed to the return of football fans things like the kids going back to school will shoulder some of the blame

That’s because it was random checks, read what the club puts out if you can read.

Thanks for that.

It was never meant to be a proper check. It is purely to show the government that football is doing something.

There were 6 lads with clipboards at our turnstiles who had obviously given up because of the queues to get in.

If the club are serious about doing checks then they to invest a lot more time and money in the exercise and not employ people who through no fault of their own are clearly not up to the job

Is there any surprise? :S

It is when that hasn't been an issue for the previous 10 years? I'd be willing to arrive earlier but it's clear from the standard of bar service the club would prefer you spend the minimum amount of time there as possible.

Caught out a few thousand other people too?

But when you know they were happening now, surely you change your arrangements lol

They've told you there'll be checks, and you still arrive thinking it'll be the same as before. That's on you.

My NHS App wouldn't load up because of the shit signal. Do they accept the little vaccine cards as proof? If not I'd be ****ed if proof was mandatory to enter.

If you have an iPhone you can add it to your wallet. It’s pretty easy to do and then works offline.

I should, all being well, make a return to the ground for the first time since March last year in a couple of weeks for the Burnley game. What time would be best to arrive? What were the checks like in the Kop where I sit?

To be fair they did say spot checks. Not check everyone in the que.

I'm now aware.

I assumed the checks would be something like scanning the QR code on my phone which would be simple.

Wasn't aware (feel stupid saying this) that it was going to be a total cluster**** involving students manually checking the name on your ticket matches your covid pass.

Every day is a school day I suppose.

Queues into West stand a block were a joke. All the way up to the hotel. For me they only checked my ST... nothing requested as per vaccination status.

Did anyone have issues exiting A block after the game. I've never seen it so slow.

I got to the Kop about 2.10 today (earlier than usual) and got in as quickly as usual. DK how it went at the Kop after that, though it seemed full by kick-off.

As others have said, they were checking everyone (not just spot checks) when I went in - but very half-heartedly: took a 3-second glance at my vaccination pass (which could have belonged to anyone) and waved me in.

A pointless gesture if that's how it's going to continue - but even that brief delay will cause jams closer to kick-off time when lots of people arrive en masse.

Good man. Usually get to the ground around 40 minutes to kick-off so should be fine.

They abandoned them around 20 minutes before kick off in the east stand due to the fact they clearly weren’t going to get everyone in for kick off

Was this the same everywhere?

They’ll have to get a load more staff in if this is going to be a thing long term

Scenes when 20,000 turn up next match with 20 mins to go.
