They could still qualify as one of the best 4 3rd placed teams.

Malawi are almost certain to qualify. It's highly unlikely Nigeria's third place team will have 4 points, unless Guinea Bissau beats Nigeria and Sudan beat or draw with Egypt.

I had to look for them on the map too, and I usually count myself to be pretty good at general geography.  (Just don't ask me for directions! :P )

Nigeria should be winning this tournament. I would expect Ndidi and Iheanacho to be there for the duration.

They might meet Senegal in the semis, but Senegal hasn't been playing great.

The best sides this tournament so far are in the second half of the draw: Morocco and Cameroon. Not to mention Cote d'Ivoire and Egypt are also most likely in that half.

Unfortunately, if Nigeria gets to the semis, then regardless of whether they win or lose, Wilf and Nacho will still "be there for the duration" to play in the 'losers final' (the third-place game).

So, Comoros (yes Comoros) put three past Amartey’s Ghanaian defence…..

At least he’s coming home early…..

Is this another “I was right about Amartey but no one listened to me” type post ?

Because of course Amartey was single handedly responsible:rolleyes:

You couldn’t wait to have another dig at him could you ?

He was responsible for the first one I’d say.

Show me a defender that doesn’t make a mistake

Someyimes they lead to a goal and sometimes they don’t

Doesn’t affect the fact that he’s been pretty decent for us when he’s come in as 4th choice centre back this season

Oh, without doubt. He’s been solid for us.

How was that ever a red car though?

It’s an unpredictable tournament.

There is something going on in that Ghana squad. Football in the country is famously corrupt -- teams even scoring obvious own goals to satisfy gambling syndicates -- and the FA was even disbanded for a bit. I can't believe all of that doesn't cause problems with the morale of the national team.

The Ghanaian FA corrupt??  Thank God I say that the English FA do not allow any funny business in the EPL.

According to early lineup reports coming out of Nigeria, the Nigerian coach rang EIGHT changes to the lineup for the effectively dead rubber game today against Guinea-Bissau, with the only regular starters being Troost-Ekong, Wilf and Nacho:nono:

We won't start JJ. In every interview so far Rodgers has stressed the need to introduce him slowly.

I think we can trust him to put Justin's welfare first. If we have to start Sharky or even VDC we will.

he should get some mins in either of the next 2 games, and with 5 subs after having a 2 week winter break seems the ideal moment even if he only plays 45 mins.

Although I'm moroccan I've got simpathy for Algerians, their defence has been absolutely woeful, worse than leicesters hahaha. There's a way to bow out of a major international tournament and this ain't it. Mahrez isn't a leader. As a neutral though love to see so much randomness. This doesn't happen in European competitions. Fair play to Algeria though
