I come into this thread and I just dread injury news.  I'd love our players to perform well ... but I don't give a crap who wins.  Honestly I would rather Ghana and Nigeria go out than progress.  Get 'em back safe and dry. ... and soonest.

The tournament seems especially shambolic this time which is a real shame for African football.

On the other hand some of the scenes are absolutely hilarious.

Which reminds me of a joke:

Why is the Peak District so funny?

Because it's hill areas.

Ghana out if Gabon and Morocco draw

Not true. 4 of 6 best third teams qualify for next round. If they beat the Comoros, which they should, they will be third and likely progress with 4 points.

I just checked and that means Ghana almost certainly plays the host Cameroon in the 1/8 final (with a slender chance they happen upon Senegal / Guinea).

Bet the Arsenal medical team are loving that. Let's hope it isn't to serious for him.

I wonder if he was vaccinated.

He tested positive a few days back when he arrived in Africa.

We're not getting these lads back until after the final, are we?

Just looked and Nigeria looks like they will have a relatively easy route to the finals. But they will happen upon Senegal in the quarters or semis, but apart from that it looks easy:

Gambia / Sierra Leone (1/8 final), Burkina Faso / Guinea / Senegal (1/4 final) and Senegal / Algeria / Mali (semis).

So yeah... I would say the final looks likely, although Senegal - Nigeria might be a game worthy of the final.

This competition is corrupt as f***! The mistakes from players and officials are worst than anything you'd see in a park on a Sunday morning and we know African football is far beyond that.
