Early in the season many pointed to the absence of Evans for our poor displays. Man is 34 next month and very injury prone. He is not the solution to our problems.

The man shouldn't be playing this regularly in such short spaces of time, Rodgers is basically gambling the rest of the blokes career to try and save his own skin. Wouldn't surprise me if we completely burn him out this month and don't see him again after Jan.

In terms of his defending, he still looks head and shoulders the best available CB to me and nowhere near being the problem.

Game every 4 days this month, then we lose Amartey in Jan so a Soyuncu-Vetsergaard partnership is quite likely lol

Looks like we'll be rushing Fofana back into another injury!

Isn't he somewhat injured though? I don't think we can single out an individual defender.

In regard to the whole defensive problem, it's surely either a number of unfortunate individual problems or something tactical. Either way we're far from fixing them this season. And, unlike our attack, we're not looking close to fixing them from what I've seen.

It's FT...of course "we" can.

I'm going to write some dystopian fiction where FT collectively manages a team. Maybe Charlie Brooker is looking for ideas for a new Black Mirror episode.

I’ve not been impressed with his performances for us recently, perhaps injury and carrying injury has a bearing on that but then for NI he looked like a world beater.

Him and Schmeichel need their heads banging together, constantly bickering, trying to blame anyone but themselves but both playing as poor as each other.

As for sideways and backwards balls he goes one step further quite regular but stopping dead with the ball putting his foot on it and looking clueless.

When I mentioned that the other week someone said ‘don’t you understand why he does that’….No. I understand people think it draws the opposition out but it doesn’t, they’re just happy for him to do absolutely **** all with it, it’s no threat to them.

How about go forward, run with it, make a forward pass, commit, that will draw teams out, try and close you down, open up space.

He maybe suffering from his on-going injury issues however I've said it for a number of months now, he is one of the main reasons for us to be so slow in our build up play! The amount of times he receives the ball and then just waits and waits, points to players, staggers forward and then makes a sidewards pass is crazy. Everytime other players try to get things moving quickly he gets the ball and then dilly dally's on it.The only reason he is in the team is because it gives Cags someone to tell him what to do. If we could combine Evans brain with Cags ability we'd have a proper defender on our hands!

Evans is permanently injured. Plantar fashitis or whatever its called. When its not acting up Rodgers plays him as much as possible because I really shouldn't need to remind you just how bad we are when he's not.

Say a prayer for Jonny because without him squat.

No point whatsoever pointing at this player and that player when we have a manager totally incapable of setting up any sort of cohesive defensive unit. They aren't bad players, they are being hung out to dry time and time again.

If you asked West Brom fans during his last season, when they were relegated, they will say he downed tools and couldn't be arsed anymore.  Maybe it is the injury, but he looks far happier in a N.I. shirt than a Leicester shirt!

Can’t say I know much about Jonny Evans and his personal attitude because I don’t watch him on the training ground every day nor have I spent any time with him, but downing tools and Jonny evans are two phrases I wouldn’t put in the same sentence.

I don't think he's far from that but we're a totally disorganised mess at the back and nobody looks any good in it. He seems to look fine for Northern Ireland in a drilled set up. He isn't the problem.

His body is disintegrating under the strain of constantly having to cover for the clown show going on around him.

No sorry...he has Made some Stand alone Big boobies, last & this season...

I Dont get on the back of the other CBs, nor so I go on FT - style  witch hunts...

Evans has in the Short past been made the saviour...for me & a few others a false dawn, but thats more against FT-Posters than Evans or other players.

The same goes for Justin & Fofana, we shouldnt put players return on such an high a pedastal & expectation...

Even now, where 95% of selected game-day players have Not shown 90minutes decent performances, but some Posters Cherry-Pick every week individual

mistakes from individual players & seemingly Rubber  Stamped  ridiculous Weekly agendas...The Team is Not performing as expected, its simple twaddle picking

out individuals...especially new or young ones..!!  But also  because Evans has shown , he is Not that saviour  some had put there hopes on..!!

Too many posters insist on playing "Spin the bottle" on the individual players every week..  This is also become Frustrating & boring and as turgid & repetative

as our teams's performances.

Watching him play for NI, no. The problem isn’t Evans, the problem is the system.

If you went to point fingers, then Cags is the main culprit, he might be a warrior, but it’s become quite clear he has zero tactical understanding at all. I think he is the player Brendan was referring to when talking about blockers and allowing the target to be free. I genuinely think Cags doesn’t understand his role at set plays.

Can't be Cags as he is part of the "zonal defence" and not a blocker

No.

But it probably doesn't help that he's clearly not fit and Soyuncu is so woefully out of form that he's basically lost the ability to be a professional footballer at the moment.

Spot on.

It's always difficult to judge any individual player when the whole team, more or less is underperforming, if the team as a whole is performing to their best then it's easier to spot someone who's not or past it.

So who knows but he should have seen red a few games ago.

Had no idea he was colour blind

Whatever his job is, he isn’t doing it. He wasn’t even facing the right way when Konsa scored. He just looks lost in the penalty area, and regardless of Brendan’s system, he should at least look like he knows what he is doing….

Yep agree with that, he looks like a deer in the headlights more often than not. Was just referring to the point about about who Brendan may have been talking about...
