Watching him recently he looks like he’s really struggling with quicker attackers, although he hasn’t ever been the quickest defender around he seemed to always be able to read the danger and block efforts or put a tackle in. But this season he looks Vulnerable every time he’s ran at. Have his legs gone ?

Difficult to say a player is past it when he was so good last season. If he's "past it" then it's one of the quickest declines in history because he doesn't look right at the moment.

I personally would put it down to him not being fit enough and, because of the form of his other central defenders, we can't afford to rest him.

It's always difficult to judge any individual player when the whole team, more or less is underperforming, if the team as a whole is performing to their best then it's easier to spot someone who's not or past it.

So who knows but he should have seen red a few games ago.

No.

But it probably doesn't help that he's clearly not fit and Soyuncu is so woefully out of form that he's basically lost the ability to be a professional footballer at the moment.

Suspect it is in part related to his on-going injury issue, part related to being a bit cack all over the park, however, his injury either needs to be resolved or we get someone else in

If you asked West Brom fans during his last season, when they were relegated, they will say he downed tools and couldn't be arsed anymore.  Maybe it is the injury, but he looks far happier in a N.I. shirt than a Leicester shirt!

He isn't getting any younger, when you look at the Premier League, arguably the highest quality footballing league in the world, you really have to be at the peak of fitness.

His age, mixed with injury problems, is always going to have an effect on his overall performance.

Personally, I think he's still got some left in the tank, and he can still do a very good job for us, but his days are numbered at top flight football.

If his injury niggles continue, I wouldn't be surprised to see him hang up his boots even earlier and take up a coaching role somewhere.

He's definitely not in form and probably not fit either.

The squad is going to need some major revamping soon.

We need at least 1 center back probably 2 as Fofana will be off. Maybe 3 if soyunchu continues to decline.

If our defenders are crocked / past it / not interested and our goalie appears to be blind as a bat, why do we persist in playing out from the back?

Ideology and the fantasy that we've got Barcelona / Man city quality players when in fact we don't.

It'll be a combination of age, injuries and playing in a team that's about as stern as Derby's P&L statement. You couldn't really put him in worse circumstances.

He's 34 in Jan and was never the quickest and as all point out, decent set of injuries and plantar recently.

He'll do v well to still be first choice by end of next season when he'll be 35 & a half.

Think we'll need 3 new Centre halves in the next 3 windows, Vestergaard just isn't good enough.

Sort out our set piece issue, and we would have won the last two games and this topic wouldn't be a issue.

We have a chronic problem which is draining team and individual confidence.

The man shouldn't be playing this regularly in such short spaces of time, Rodgers is basically gambling the rest of the blokes career to try and save his own skin. Wouldn't surprise me if we completely burn him out this month and don't see him again after Jan.

In terms of his defending, he still looks head and shoulders the best available CB to me and nowhere near being the problem.

I was watching him the other night. He’s still injured. When he didn’t have the ball he was limping about, I thought he was gonna come off any minute but just shows how bad our other options are I suppose

I actually think he's been a problem in our recent run. Not showing the same leadership qualities and has been out of position on a fair few goals we've conceded. Injuries may not have helped him but think Fofana slots straight back in for him when he's back.
