Switzfox Posted 18 December 2021 Posted 18 December 2021 Winning the league cup, gives us more global exposure and helps to build our reputation as a team regularly competing for and winning trophies. This can help us attract players, gain some glory hunting fans abroad and help the coffers long term. Not saying prioritise over the Conference but there is no need to have to prioritise at this stage. We can go for both and see where we get. We are two rounds from the final. Go for it. 4
reynard Posted 18 December 2021 Posted 18 December 2021 When would our training ground need to be open in time for this game to go ahead? Also how many players will still need to be in isolation?. I'd say this fixture is 50/50 to go ahead.

Ted Maul Posted 19 December 2021 Posted 19 December 2021 Semi-final at a neutral ground would be class... 3
Qwerty Posted 19 December 2021 Posted 19 December 2021 The coaches leave at 2.30 so they’ll have to make a decision before then surely. Can’t have 20+ coaches getting half way to Liverpool then having to turn back! I think the decision will be made in the meeting tomorrow, and sadly I think it’ll be postponed.

fox_up_north Posted 19 December 2021 Posted 19 December 2021 Sheffield, Birmingham, even Leeds make most sense.

st albans fox Posted 19 December 2021 Posted 19 December 2021 I love the way we’re discussing where the semi final should be played …… 1
String fellow Posted 19 December 2021 Posted 19 December 2021 9 minutes ago, st albans fox said: I love the way we’re discussing where the semi final should be played …… Now that cup replays are becoming a thing of the past, it seems to me that 2-leg semi-finals have also become something of an anachronism. And with a tin-pot competition such as the EFL Cup, why not play each semi at one of the club's home ground? There would be several ways of deciding which club hosted each game, perhaps based on which ones had the fewer home games in the previous rounds, or some other criterion based on number of bookings or goals scored in previous rounds.
Marmite Posted 19 December 2021 Posted 19 December 2021 I have until midnight on Monday to cancel hotel or I lose my money so hoping a decision is made tomorrow

StanSP Posted 19 December 2021 Posted 19 December 2021 Robertson out for them. Salah looked knackered today. Wonder if they'll play a vastly changed squad.
reidt Posted 19 December 2021 Posted 19 December 2021 (edited) Im taking my 8 year old son to this who is really up for it. I'm really hoping it happens. I can't understand why either team would want a postponement. Surely with a league cup game you just want to get it played with the players that are available. Both teams will probably rotate a few in any case. Rescheduling it will also be a nightmare and the covid situation is likely to be no better in a few weeks. I really think it might happen on Wednesday. Edited 19 December 2021 by reidt

Foxes96 Posted 19 December 2021 Posted 19 December 2021 Personally hope this goes ahead. Given Liverpool have had very little rest in recent weeks, will likely play a weakened side. And given we’ve had a 10 day rest should be able to put out a fairly decent side. Every chance to get to the Semi finals in this… Ward Ricardo - Amartey - Evans - Thomas Tielemans - Ndidi - KDH Maddison - Daka - Barnes 1
