Somethings off here. Whilst it was clear we'd done the majority of our budget in the summer as the elusive striker turned out to be restricted to loan options, we've reached desperation levels in our pursuit of staying up.

Maybe the notion we'd spend now and sell in June to comply is off the table because we already need to sell to comply in June and relegation would make that unfeasible. Sorry state of affairs if so.

However Ruud's been told there's a level of funds available that surely isn't just a £3m permanent transfer and a loan, especially when Tom Collomosse who I respect has said we're targeting up to 5 new players.

A loan is likely to cost us £1-2m in fees anyway which is no different than a £5-10m transfer over 4-5 years. I'd be targeting those whose contracts are up in the summer and value leagues like Scandinavia and Japan.

Fully agree.

I don't get it either, and Ruud seems to be fine with it based on his interviews so far, but that could change.

Some potential scenarios:

1. We're waiting for the Cannon money so we can go after a different calibre of player, and that has a knock-on impact on other targets
2. We're looking at the loan market but that takes longer as teams want to see where they are towards the end of the window

3. Something's changed as part of the PL comms to the club about the PSR decision so they're having to be more careful

Or the club misled Ruud as to the level of funds available in this window, wouldn’t be the first time

This points to the fact they don't back RVN anymore and therefore don't want to spend the money, or sack him - so accepting the inevitable

They haven't backed Ruud to begin with? no coaches have been brought in something seems majorly off?

Probably just lied to him about what we can spend/how many players he can have

Enzo also lied to him as well. Poor Ruud, bet he wish he didn't sign that contract.

But his manner in press conferences so far doesn’t suggest it but that may well change!

With the loan being taken out today could we have been waiting for PSR result before doing anything?

Adding any funds from Cannon, Okoli and Choudhury to improve the standard of player we’re going for?

Am I clutching? Probably.

Just wonder whether we have deals on the table and the loans been taken out now we've missed the boat in points in the last two games to get the deals done. Be very worried if we've taken out a loan that isn't to fund transfers because that just makes me think we're in an even bigger mess than I thought.

I do wonder if this rumour that we can only do/only looking at loans is true.. or whether someone's misheard the information about us taking out a loan and ran with that

I do worry though that we've left it so late and now we're only realistically in touching distance of Wolves and Ipswich that we'll bring in some absolute crap, drop anyway and be further in a mess.. normally I'd think we're better off dropping to rebuild but with the EFL sharks circling.. we really need 2 or 3 more years of this rubbish and just survive each year to have a restart

This seems like the most realistic.

Not the first time and won't be the last time as long as the current regime are in place.
