Durham is now just totally embarrassing himself ….

He is talking in very simple terms but it's the 1st thing I thought about. No doubt they have injuries but surely it's suits them to have this called off.

This is good isnt it? We have an injury crisis and multiple players at AFCON, we'll have a better chance in this fixture when he have our squad in better health later in the season

Or we end up playing every 3 days for the rest of the season leading to more injuries (probably serious) from the gruelling schedule..

This will never go away btw. The state we've got ourselves in as a country over this virus means pretty much whenever a team wants a game called off in the future they'll just say "sorry Covid haha" and that's it.

Yep, feels like a dangerous precedent has been set and Burnley are the latest club to follow it. God knows when we're going to get these games rearranged, especially if we go deep in the FA Cup and Conf League.

As "good" as some people think this is, the season has to end at some point, fixture congestion is absolutely guaranteed.

It's good for now... but there's bound for be a point in a month or two where we're playing 3 times a week regularly making up for these postponements when we're almost certain to pick up fresh injuries through fatigue, unless we have a mental January window and buy some serious reinforcements. Otherwise I think we're going to need to get some of the youngsters game-time before this backlog is unleashed so they're up to speed when they're called upon

The one thing that I don’t like about the covid rules is the lack of transparency. In Spain or Germany they actually name the players who have tested positive.

Why name them? That's a breach of data protection and anyone's health record are their own and not to be shared with the public. Would you like it if everyone was made aware if you were ill?

The fact is that PL clubs have 25 man squads. The injury website I use says Burnley are missing 8 players including Cornet at AFCON and they have sold Wood. So that means they should have 16 squad members available.  So why can't they play? They have more available than we do, even with the returnees coming back now.

Thought it would be called off.

Annoying as it is. It teams aren't at full strength then a few injuries and covid and can call a game off quite easily.

We did it last week. Burnley this week. Clubs will just take advantage of the rules PL set.

Premier league have absolutely ruined this season.

No, the Government and new variant have damaged things. Lots to blame the PL on but this is not one of them.

If they'd introduced more restrictions, likely more games would have gone ahead.

Wood’s sale is, in effect another injury for them

that’s how it should be viewed - they couldn’t stop it

Just to clarify

if we are moaning about these postponements then we accept we should have played all the games we have called off

it is what it is

Yep, it is annoying as I think they were there for the taking given their confidence is so low, especially with Wood going.

Only positives are it means we might get Castagne and Soumare back when we next play, and we're playing less games while the AFCON is on.

Does the injury website include Covid cases though? I'm guessing they've had some positive cases this morning, with injuries they'd only need 4 to get Covid to have it called off which is feasible.

I think most of us accept that? Matchgoing fans just an afterthought as usual.

Sold because of a release clause in his contract.  So there was no option to retain him, even for another week.

He is now going off saying you should have recalled that striker you have on loan at Accrington I think? Who is also injured lol

Gutted was looking forward to the Cricket ground tomorrow and an actual Saturday 3pm KO. Another away down the drain being moved to midweek then.

I take it tickets will just be rolled over for this when it’s eventually rearranged?

Burnley have 8 men out, from a 25 man squad. So why is the game cancelled?

Edit: we have more unavailable than they do… seems odd

Posted in jest after he made the same comment to us about loaning out an academy player.

It includes Covid cases yes. But I guess some others could (conveniently) have come through this morning.

Its still irrelevant, teams can't sell players and then get games called off. I'm not saying they haven't got injuries but something stinks here.
