Am I correct in thinking we’ve now had 5 games called off, and despite all of our injuries, the only one we’ve requested is the Everton game, which was rescheduled by the PL to a weird time.

No we requested Spurs and both Everton games

Gutted really, I feel safer with our players actually playing a game more than I do with them having time off with our medical team lol

Getting a bit silly now.

Absolutely no issues until they allowed the first club to do it. Now every club just calls the game off if they are missing players or just don't fancy it.

Set a dangerous president, they might as well end the season, give the title to Man City and relegate Watford, Newcastle & Tottenham

I can live with that.  Even if you put Norwich for Tottenham, I can live with it!

I don't think there's much doubt that Burnley wanted it off because we only have 1 forward available and he hasn't scored this season or last, which makes 4-4-2 problematic.  But with only 18 senior outfield players, it doesn't take much to get too low to fill the team and bench.  (We only had 12 available last weekend, and one of those was Wood.)  I don't like the rules, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if I found that Burnley are stretching a point in taking advantage of them.  But it's been done to us, and once the PL has allowed it as a principle, I can't realistically see any way we could have taken the "high moral line" and refused to take advantage of them.

Its not though is it, your Premier league finish determines how much money you receive and therefore the quality of signings you can make in the summer. Far more important then the FA cup really

Might as well give it back then.

Hampton v Dorking in the National League South for me.

Nice. I’ll probably go to St Albans v cheshunt in the fa trophy. Only 10 mins up the road for me and cracking/numerous pubs in St Albans

Why name them? That's a breach of data protection and anyone's health record are their own and not to be shared with the public. Would you like it if everyone was made aware if you were ill?

Is it any different if a player were injured? I doubt it’s a data protection issue if most European clubs already follow this protocol

If we hadnt won it last year id of said it was important, but surely finishing in europe and having more resources to throw at transfers in summer to improve squad is more essential then trying to retain something we are very unlikely to do this year with all our problems

It's getting ridiculous now but once club has it then every other will want it.

Not bothered about the league as we're gonna have loads of games to catch up with, can't see us finishing top 6, so everything should be thrown at retaining FA Cup and going for it in Europe. Only way we're gonna get in the Europa League next season is via winning the Conference League.

Interesting reading all the reactions online. Unsure why Leeds fans seem so high-and-mighty about Bielsa refusing to ask for postponements and playing games anyway. He's surely disadvantaging the team - imagine if it put them back in the Champ. Can understand some not liking the rules, but in the current climate I don't know why anyone would begrudge somebody asking for a postponement - it is in their interests to and the incentives for playing aren't really there.

If anything, we're more likely to succeed this year in competitions that don't require intense consistency and where you can play without fear of losing, i.e. the Cup and, to an extent, the Conference League.

As others have said already, our fixture pile up and schedule later on down the line is going to be ridiculous.

The only positive, is that the players we would have undoubtedly rushed back (Daka, Soyuncu) will get more recovery time before Spurs and in theory, we should be closer to our full strength squad when the fixture pile up will be.

There’s no perfect answer here. If there was no rule or criteria, we’d have had to field under 18s against Spurs and Everton. Similarly if say we are competing for 6th or 7th at the end of the season, and an opposition were made to field under 18s against Spurs or West Ham. Ourselves and the clickbait media would be screaming farce.

Where there is a grey area is players who clubs would normally risk won’t be risked. It is strange Burnley have pulled this - 4 injuries I believe last week and I read they had six out with covid (so could be some cross over there). That would suggest an almighty covid outbreak there.

Theres a hefty chunk of price money and tv money to be had in both Europe and FA Cup. Commercially as wel probably a bigger benefit than finishing 10th over 14th

What's funny is that pub teams are still managing to play every Sunday without issue yet Premier League teams, the pinnacle of world soccer, can't field 11 players.

It's comical.

For an association and league that is so 'pro' grass roots and youth, why are they not allowing an expansion of premier league squads and making clubs play with youth players. So what, Man City will run away with the league? They already have!

Don’t understand why some think this is good. We will always be beset by injuries, they have just lost their key man and are on a downward spiral. They will be in a much better position come through rearranged tie

So will we.
