Vindaloo FOX Posted 12 January 2022 Author Posted 12 January 2022 Would love for us to go for Matheus Nunes, think we were linked with him before.

There are better players on the continent at better price. I am sure we wil be paying a British tax if we bring him in. 1

Can’t see him going Arsenal, they are not a big enough step up. Can’t even see them getting champions league , couple of key injuries they start to look bang average Are you an Ostrich? 2

Greg2607 Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 in reality, have we not already bought him in Soumare? it's the Leicester way isn't it. I imagine that a mixture of KDH (hopefully he continues to progress) Soumare and Maddison are the intended path. how often in recent history have we replaced a key player AFTER selling them?? 2
AKCJ Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 JWP is a good player and would be a good replacement but that's ignoring the financial aspect of it all. We'd probably spend more on him than we would get from a Tielemans sale. Worth also noting that we'd probably not get as much out of him as Southampton do with regards to his freekicks as Maddison is still probably going to want to take them.

Yes, and I expect we've not seen the best of Soumare yet. Not by a long shot. 6
adejo92 Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 Gallagher would be a great replacement however i don't see him being too far away from Chelsea's first team and his price will reflect that.
dannythefox Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 Ward Prowse all day long. We’d get him as well they sell at every opportunity. Gallagher has only had one good season plus he’ll probably break in the Chelsea team next season.
lcfc sheff Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 Similar to mahrez situation, we’ll struggle to get a like for like. Probably smarter we got soumare in early with hopes of bedding him in this season as well as maybe changing our midfield style. 1

Probably smarter we got soumare in early with hopes of bedding him in this season as well as maybe changing our midfield style. This. He's irreplaceable, there's only 5-10 players in Europe that are at his level in terms of what he does, and those players are people like Veratti, Locatelli, Jorginho, etc. We signed Soumare in the summer, and now have KDH. We've been using 433 or variants of it a lot this season, and that's the system I see as being our future. It's easier to get hard running box-to-box midfielders rather than Belgian Xavi's like Tielemans is! We will probably play a bit more like Liverpool do with more emphasis on the front 3 for creativity. The other possibility is a player called Samuele Ricci who we've been linked with a number of times who plays for Genoa. I could see us signing someone like that, IE an up and coming version of Tielemans, but we won't be able to sign a player who hits the ground running or is as good as Youri. Tielemans was our record signing and proved to be more than worth the money paid for him. The next phase of the team is probably built around James Maddison and to a lesser extent Harvey Barnes, Patson Daka and Ademola Lookman. After a terrible start this season, Maddison is at his very best, so we can make this work. It will of course be a sad day when a player of Youri's quality leaves, but he should be playing one of the elite clubs in Europe, the guy is top class. Edited 13 January 2022 by StriderHiryu 12
alanf0x Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 What’s great is that the club keep all of their business under wraps these days. Very rarely does a ‘ITK’ have the information before the player is having his medical at the training ground.
sphericalfox Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 Ward Prowse? Lols. Firstly he's contracted til 2026. Secondly Southampton ain't gonna sell to us. There are better options for what he's valued at.

Foxes96 Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 As others have said above don’t think we will get a like for like replacement. KDH/ Soumaré can cover that position alongside Ndidi and Maddison in the middle of the park. However, if we were I’d be tempted by Loftus-Cheek, although not convinced he’d be interested
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 Assuming he goes this summer I’d be happy with Ndidi, KDH, Soumare being the main starters with a player with potential coming in. Dont think we’ll spend big on a replacement due to KDH form and the bigger need for a right winger. Braybrooke in the u18s is also worth keeping an eye on. 1

Popular Post Finnegan Posted 13 January 2022 Popular Post Posted 13 January 2022 I'd probably invest the money in the defence if I'm honest. Any CM that comes in I'd have a youngster with room to grow, not someone expected to fill Youri's shoes. 433 / 4231 always has to be the aim for me. As long as a confident Madders is the 8 or 10 in that scenario then I'm happy with two from Ndidi, Soumaré and KDH being the others. To be fair, if we sign a quality RW at long last and have decent creativity out wide then I'd even be happy with Soumaré, KDH and Ndidi being a more robust 3 without Madders' lockpick of a right foot. I'm not panicked about Youri leaving. It's inevitable and as much as the squad will be weaker for it, it won't kill us. 8

Guest ttfn Posted 13 January 2022 Posted 13 January 2022 (edited) As others have said we will not find a similar quality player, let alone central midfielder, who wants to sign for us. I think Tielemans leaving - with Vardy now not able to play every week, Schmeichel’s form dropping off (and apparently not wanting to be here forever) and Evans increasingly struggling with injury - will mark the end of this team’s cycle. We need to start again, I’m sure that Soumare has a role to play but we are short of top quality centre back options and we have got to sign a right winger this summer, absolutely no excuses. What I would say with regards to having a direct replacement is that we need somebody who passes the ball forwards through midfield - there is no point in having Barnes, Daka and Maddison (even when all fit and firing) if there’s nobody to give them the ball. I think this is what we were hoping we’d get from Soumare but he’s been very conservative in possession so far. KDH looks to be brave on the ball but even with a team re-jig it is a huge ask for him to be that player consistently. Edited 13 January 2022 by ttfn
