It’s kinda a shrewd move by Brendan and the club. Injure all our really good players to make it easier to sign them to extensions - Justin, Ricardo, now Fofana.  I think he was trying to do it Tielemans too, we just didn’t catch a break with him.

Imagine it's the old we will sell you if an acceptable offer comes in so him signing just protects the club more than him.

Coming back from a double break, it’s not quite as clear cut of a deal it would’ve been prior to the injury. There is a risk involved.

I suspect we feel there's been some extra openness on Fofana's part by offering such a new deal whilst injured, as opposed to him coming back and the hype resuming and his advisors suggesting he waits until the summer to assess his future.

 

Its a gamble but a 5 year deal makes it pretty secure for us if he stays fit, we'd command £100m for him.

He's have to get a long term injury first which I think plenty would be happy about in the short term 😂😂😂
