Nothing. One of the best players we've ever had in a Leicester shirt. He's a pretty boring but inoffensive co-commentator, but people on here seem to have some weird vendetta against him because he isn't obsessed with us and doesn't mention how great it was to play for us every 2 minutes.

The stick he gets on here is so weirdly way of whack for who he is and what he actually says or doesn't say.

Yeh he was good for us but I’m not sure he’s one of the best players we’ve ever had tbh.

Could not disagree more. Probably the closest we've ever been to a one man team was in his final season here after Lineker had left.

Regularly used to get 15-20 goals and probably 10+ assists (they obviously weren't measured then) in a team which was mostly fighting relegation from the top division.

Can only think of Vardy, Lineker and Worthington who were better forwards for us since the 70s. And I'm not really sure I'd genuinely rate Worthington above him when push comes to shove, as I was never the biggest fan of Worthington's lazy style, in a big game I'd probably rather have Smith.

Completely agree with you, Sampson. Lineker and Smith were awesome together and AS carried us, when Lineker left. Vardy is the only one to get near them since. Worthington ON HIS DAY was great - just not that many days!

The bloke is so far the other way though which is the issue, it's like he tries to prove that he isn't biased towards us by being overly negative. But he doesn't apply this when he commentates on Arsenal. The gap between us and the top 7 comment didn't make sense prior to the start of play, and little things like making out decisions against us are correct despite obviously being wrong e.g saying Shelvey was caught in the head when he wasn't.

I'm sure during the title winning season he couldn't get enough of praising us and pundits like Savage get stick for being 'Leicester' when it appears to suit them. Fair enough if you don't want to come across as a Carragher or Neville but at least be balanced.

He's better than the likes of Carragher when Liverpool are on, for instance, but he has been known to show his bias. A game recently where the opposition "shouldn't do that" but Arsenal "were streetwise" over similar incidents.

My favourite Alan Smith story....

"I actually played for Leicester on loan, at Highburry against Arsenal. It was a weird one, both sets of fans singing my name"

If you know you know

I think you're massively stretching over nothing here.

When was he overly negative about us during the game? I heard people moaning because he predicted Newcastle to win at the start, well... they did. Mostly during the game he just seemed to say the game was boring and flat than anything *overly* negative about us and to be fair, the game was boring and flat.

No problem with people thinking he's a boring commentator, he is. But don't really get why people seem to think he has some sort of vendetta about us and is negative about us all the time so that he can show he's not biased. I think people are just being overly precious to the extreme over absolutely nothing.
