Dominated the game, didn't threaten often enough. Story of the last three/four months. 

 

Will be very tough next week in that stadium and atmosphere. I fear we let them off the hook a bit.

Proud of them tonight, especially after starting pretty well and going 1 behind to Roma's only shot of the half. We lost our way a little after that but then started to get more intensity and belief again as the 1st half drew to a close.

 

2nd half we were really positive and played some very good stuff by and large. We still don't create anywhere near enough but we still aren't at full throttle, when we release the ball quicker and don't just keep possession for the sake of it then we are often much much better. 

 

Ricardo, Justin and Lookman were brilliant.

 

All to play for.

Jose had Rodgers’ number tactically today. Brendan is so stubbornly inflexible that any coach worth their salt must find it a no-brainer to play against us. You know exactly what we’re going to do and how to counter it: sit deep and watch us aimlessly piss about with the ball on the edge of the box. POZESHUN FUTBORL.

 

Having said that I think it was a good performance, on another day we maybe would’ve nicked something.

Personally think a draw was about right. It was a good game, but one of very few real chances

I thought the difference was Chris Smalling who was exemplary tonight

We can go to Rome with confidence. But we have to score first I think. If they go one up, they’ll do a typical bit of Jose shithousery and cheat and dive and foul and shut up shop

Fine margins and a well schooled opposition with the master of shithousery in charge. We moan about Premiership refs but this guy was truly woeful,   really abysmal start handing out yellow cards when they should be given and it is a different game.

Got a bir annoying the commentators trying to "give" Lookman by saying it was hard to tell in what was quite clearly an own goal which Lookman wasn't close to touching as well.

A 1-goal advantage is ALWAYS BETTER than none at all...fine margins

We played ok but still don't create enough chances for the amount of possession we have. First legs are always a bit of a phoney war though. I expect there will be plenty of drama next week.

Have to do better than the last two away legs in this competition where we went a goal behind in both. Do that in Rome and we'll struggle big time.

Abraham is a much better all round striker than the one who left Chelsea
