Guest Col city fan Posted 22 May 2022 Posted 22 May 2022 If the club is going to sell Kasper (I doubt it) we need to push the boat out for Nick Pope now that Burnley are relegated. Best English keeper imho

Webbo Posted 22 May 2022 Posted 22 May 2022 I don't begrudge him having a final few years in the sun but we'll miss him when he's gone. 1

Nicolo Barella Posted 22 May 2022 Posted 22 May 2022 No chance we go for Nick Pope. Whoever we buy will be able to distribute the ball half-decently at least. 2

Pope is able to take crosses and also a very good shot stopper so I'd take him in a heartbeat. 1

Rodgers wants his keeper to be able to distribute the ball, Pope looks like he’s got concrete blocks on his feet. Agree he is a good shot stopper and much more commanding than Kasper but I don’t think we’d go for him for the above reason. 2

We're not going to spend what Burnley will want on a goalkeeper, there are far more pressing areas to address. 1
foxgas Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 He won't get the wages that we pay him at a second tier Champions League team abroad. If he wants to run his contract down, and go on a free, we need to push the agenda and either play Ward as number one or bring in a replacement now. He has been a great servant to the club but a season long farewell tour is no good for the team, no one is irreplaceable.
coolhandfox Posted 23 July 2022 Posted 23 July 2022 Not a chance we would need to buy a replacement looking at our other options Ward, Iversen. They aren't going to pay enough to make that happen.
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 23 July 2022 Popular Post Posted 23 July 2022 You know what, I could well see this happening. Something doesn't feel right with Kasper this summer. Him going as our joint highest earner would make a significant dent in the wages issue. 12
Guest Posted 23 July 2022 Posted 23 July 2022 And now your Leicester City side, in goal number one, Jakub Stolarczyk 1
Guest Lcfc82 Posted 23 July 2022 Posted 23 July 2022 If he goes it will be at the end of his contract surely ?
Shane Posted 23 July 2022 Posted 23 July 2022 (edited) Positives if Schmeichel leaves: - Frees up the wage bill. Could give us some funds to improve Maddison’s contract and pay the wages for new signings. - We already have a replacement in house. I think a few of us were quick to get on Iversen’s back after a couple mistakes which is a bit harsh. Stolarczyk is also a good option. - Kasper not coming off his line plays a part in our set piece issues. Hopefully his replacement will punch/catch the ball. Negatives if Schmeichel leaves: - He is a club legend. We will miss his presence in the dressing room. - We will lose a leader on/off the pitch. We don’t have too many of those left. - He’s a very good Keeper. - Captain material. - Again, a club legend. Edited 23 July 2022 by Shane

Because if not were are we finding the money to get in a replacement?

But if we lose Kasper on £150k a week and get a replacement for £50-60k a week then that starts to open things up. We then may start to agree covering proportions of the likes of Hamza, Praet, Vestergaards wages etc to get them out the door so we can bring players in. Don't forget, it keeps being said it's not transfer fees we haven't the money for but cannot increase our wage bill. 2

I can’t see us spending money on a keeper when we don’t have the proverbial pot to piss in
