I think Iversen will be the replacement long term. I can’t see us spending money on a keeper when we don’t have the proverbial pot to piss in

We have money to spend it’s just the wage bill that’s killing us. Kasper is on big wages and tbf him going would probably do us a favour

Is Danny Ward a professional golf player?

Ward is also an option of course.

But my gut feeling says Iversen or Stolarczyk will replace Schmeichel. Both are very highly rated by the club :dunno:.

Stolarczyk has only gotten any senior experience in the 3rd tier of Scotland

Iversen hasnt convinced me in pre-season

Why not stick with Ward until we figure out our youth situation

Could see it being beneficial to both parties, as Kasper wants Euro football again and we need to free up wages now. A secondary benefit could be not having another legend exit next Summer, and to drip, fee their exits.

Feels really dirty talking about it though.

Fair points.

Will be interesting to see how the club manages the situation!

*2nd tier of Scotland, but is also very highly rated by the club

Although he has had a couple of poor moments, Iversen has also made some good saves and had good moments

Ward appears to be injured, only time he has been seen in training so far was on an exercise bike in Evian

ah well we're buggered then should Kasper leave

hope that IF we spend money on a new keeper, we actually get a big upgrade in. Don't need a sideways move like Leno or something along those lines

I think the jury will be out and we may still look to bring another keeper in long term. But if we lose Kasper on £150k a week and get a replacement for £50-60k a week then that starts to open things up. We then may start to agree covering proportions of the likes of Hamza, Praet, Vestergaards wages etc to get them out the door so we can bring players in.

Don't forget, it keeps being said it's not transfer fees we haven't the money for but cannot increase our wage bill.

It a interesting one, it a key position.

Either way he gone in 12 months.

an upgrade won't be cheap and would likely eat into any budget we have set aside for a RW or defender.

Nice aren’t in the champions league are they? I thought he wanted another crack playing in that?

Be a good move, beautiful place, beautiful stadium, very passionate fans.  Not a bad way to see out retirement.

Have heard we’re looking at a new keeper (albeit haven’t heard a name) so this would match up.

Also obviously with the weird stuff going on with Kasper this pre-season also makes a lot of sense.

Bring in Ben Foster for a season. £40k a week. Massive saving on a weekly basis

More saving than Ben Foster would be doing that's for sure

Returning late to pre season with the Rodgers explanation of “extra rest ahead of the World Cup” like A) he’s not an outfield player and B) there aren’t other players in the squad that will be playing in the World Cup too

Iversen looked good in the short spell he had on the pitch today, including a cracking save that clinched the win for us. Personally If Kasper was to leave, I would try and shift Ward and bring in an experienced keeper as 2nd choice to Iversen who I believe will be a top class keeper, I would then loan Stolycrk to a league 1 or championship side with a view in a season or two to come back and be a direct challenge to Iversen

We 100% will need to replace.

Danny Ward is just not good enough to start for us all year and I say that as someone that's seen more of him than the average Leicester fan.
