I'm sure I've posted this pretty much verbatim before so apologies in advance but he's just not really good enough in any position at this level. Not got the positional sense or discipline to play as a holding midfielder nor the technical ability or creativity to play further forward. He's also got a habit of standing the other side of his marker rather than showing for the pass so if you think we're pedestrian at working the ball forwards it'd be much worse with him involved.

Not his fault we gave him an absurd contract and I'm sure he'll end up having a perfectly good career somewhere but big hair and big tackles do not a top-half Premier League footballer make.

Hamza is not at the required standard for where we’ve recently been or where aspire to be.

He is extremely limited on the ball, lacks positional sense and hasn’t shown any evidence of kicking on/maturing.

Luiz at Villa is a much more rounded CM mate.

Think we need more of a John McGinn type player than a Douglas Luiz...fed up of us being bullied out of games..when Ndidi is on it he is very good but we missed him badly at the end of last season..a fired up Hamza should be able to do this destructive role but he needs to get a nasty side to him

Sad that after we crash and burn next season he’ll be exactly our standard

Middlesbrough have shown an interest in Hamza and Iversen wouldn’t be surprised to see one or both end up there now they have the Djed Spence money

Probably only 1 as boro have juat taken steffan on loan from man city.

I want to keep Hamza and see him do well cause he's one of ours but, he isn't capable at the level we want to play and he should get proper minutes. Take the money and wish him all the best.

...when it comes down to it, the reality is he needs to learn to read the game!!!

His ability to get across to eliminate danger is good but he needs to be ahead of the play in order to do so. He started his last game well and managed to put in a big and well-timed tackle to stop an attacker from going through. You will have to sit him down with the coaching staff and get him to understand the game and how decisions taken effects the game. Getting him out there on the pitch is not going to help as he will just keep repeating bad practices.

He has to start looking at the game from a technical aspect, as opposed to someone who goes out on the pitch and runs around trying to affect the game.

Agree re no evidence of kicking on/maturing, that why i think he needs s manager whos prepared to kick him up the backside as he just seems to want to coast through his career.

As for limited on the ball, we need someone with a bit of spite who can chase, tackle and win the ball, which he can do well.

Reminds me of the story Robbie Savage tells about himself where 5 minutes before half time he received a pass from Gerry Taggart and then tried to beat an opposition player with a bit of flair that he never possessed. Duly lost the ball and from that the opposition went on and scored. He went down the tunnel at half time expecting the mother of all bollockings from Martin ONeil but instead O'Neil turned on Taggart "How many  times have i told you do not f~king pass the ball to Savage"

I feel Chris Wilder and the systems he plays would be a great fit for Hamza. Good motivator and man manager who operates with dynamic, energetic systems where the sum of the parts is greater than the individual player. If they offered a fee we will hopefully take it.

Whether Hamza fancies a pay cut on the final year of his deal and relocating to Middlesbrough is another matter entirely.

Could we not just let him go on a free, and have the ‘buying’ club give him the difference in what they’re paying him officially and what he’s on for the final year of his contract here as a signing on fee?

E.g. WBA offer Hamza £30k p/w, he’s on 60k p/w here, so the difference is £30k.

WBA pay Hamza approx. £30k x 52 = £1.56m to cover the loss in earnings in the final year of his contract here.

I reckon they’d be willing to do that if there was no fee, and it gets the entirety of his wage off our wage bill immediately.

Yes but he's won an F. A cup medal though.

I read that he is in 60grand a week no wonder no one wants him. Take a zero off and more realistic

This is the problem, if you get rid of the likes of kasper, Vestergaard, Bertrand and hamza that’s 320,000 a week!

if you look into the European market you can get 4,5 or even 6 better players all for those wages!

Kaspers wages are almost acceptable but the other 3 are disgusting. Hamza is paid way over what he is worth.

In a sentimental way yes, but business wise we can get a younger better goalie on less money. I think it’s time he went as well. But yes the other 3 is just terrible business

We definitely do not need Ward.  Surely he is looking for regular football due to the World cup?

Hamza is a good lad and a reasonable player. He would do a great job for a newly promoted side or those scrapping to get out of the Championship. He is committed 🤣.  He has a good engine. Can pass. Can tackle. Isn’t going to be a target for the top 6 or Europes big boys. We need players who will be.

On Reflection a weird signing, never gonna be no.1 is he?
