Re-integrating Praet would be a huge upgrade on Soumare but I still think that divorce is irreconcilable.

He’s on 80k a week and his contract is up next season I believe, isn’t happening.

Kids 23 and just feel he is homesick.

Get him back to France.

Ah, diddums.

He's 23 not 12 and that is the nature of football.

He's also a professional with 150+ appearances under his belt that is paid handsomely to be professional.

Exactly the profile of player we need imo, bar the obvious lack of desire to succeed here. I just pray we reinvest wisely.

What is it that he potentially offers that you think we need?

Genuinely baffled.

This. He showed very little in his career here. A few nice touches and turns does not equal having all the attirbutes.

Sometimes a player doesn't work out, or isn't good enough. I can see why the club signed him based on his underlying stats, but KDH is the player Soumare should have been, so we sell him and move on. Good luck to Bouba, onto the next one.

You were trying to convince me last season that Mendy was top quality because of one turn against Man City :D

There's only so much money fixes things. If I was paid £20k a week to live in Argentina, that doesn't mean I'd be happy there.

At 23, he's taken a chance to do something different and it's not worked out. He may never leave France again (professionally) and that's fine.

How many Brits ever try living and working abroad?

...he was a member of a title-winning club, beating PSG to the title!!!

It wasn't as if he played 6 games in the season, he played the whole season, he has already succeeded in that league, and in a team environment, he has little to prove.

Open your eyes.

I’m not sure if it’s homesick or not but I bet the pure intensity of the EPL made him question if he would be ever good enough for this league. You saw brief glimpses of talent but he consistently looked a couple yards off the pace.

I think his personal issues is closer to how Vardy felt when he first came to us and he believed he wasn’t good enough for the championship!!! Sometimes you have to dig deep within yourself and Soumare does not strike me as a character to do that. Vardy on the other hand has that inner belief and managed to turn it around a tiny bit!!

Fine.  I spent six months living in Qatar as a fourteen year old that I didn't much care for, I wasn't able to use it as an excuse for failing to do school work though.

If he is indeed homesick, he might well be unhappy, but my point is that as a professional he should be able to still perform and I we should not be asked to feel sympathy for him.  It his him letting us down, not the other way around.

Being a professional athlete and striving to be one of the best people in the world at what you do is a little different to doing your Year 9 chemistry homework.

How much did we pay for him? £40 odd million?

Less than half of that.

I have lived in Spain the last 10 years however of all my travels Argentina and in particular Buenos Aires is right up there. Wish someone had paid me 20k week  to live / work there.

File under “Kramaric”. Clearly has talent but has one major flaw that prevents him being a success here.

For Kramaric it was his lack of pace, which rendered him useless once we had gone ultra counter attacking.

For Soumare it’s his inability to read a fast paced game. Maybe he would have adapted over time but he is such a liability as he is that it is hard to give him that time.

Concisely put - however I will say Soumare annoys me cos he's lazy

Mendy is decent though, hence why he was in the first team for the last part of the season. In fact I'd argue that not including him in the European squad might have cost us the tie against Roma.

Mendy is no world beater but is more than solid and a very good squad option. Soumare has yet to show anything.

Thinking back I think it was you actually trying to convince me that passing out from the back against teams like Liverpool and Man City was a good thing :D

He's solid enough but very replaceable for me. His lack of phsyicality is a massive negative, especially for a holding midfielder. You want that lad to be a unit and capable of winning most 50/50s.

He's our 5th best midfielder. I'd have him in the side long before I ever let Hamza or Praet near the pitch.

Why can’t we send a DNA sample of Roy Keane to China and get ourselves an endless supply of angry, intimidating but talented midfield generals?  I’m sure there are some on FT who could get that sample for us.

The way kante jogged past him and scored the 2nd in the Chelsea game was ridiculous.

Also, having just rewatched is still just as painfullol

Ah, i think the same applies though as we will see him as an opportunity to raise cash and reduce the wage bill, obviously Rodgers doesn’t rate him.

No one. Tielemans is our record transfer at £32m.

I thought it was Fofana at £35 million. We would have to equal that with De Ketelaere.

Who am I thinking we paid £40 million (ish) for then?

The numbers are ridiculous these days, as it is. Hard to keep track. They've just become meaningless.

...the only players we picked up in that price bracket was Youri or Fofana!!!

Youri- £40.5m

Fofana - £31.5m
