Think it will likely just go to Evans or Vardy.

Current pecking order seems to be:

1. Schmeichel

2. Evans

3. Vardy

4. Albrighton

5. Tielemans

Will just continue the same with Evans as main captain you’d assume. The club isn’t just going to rip up its “leadership group” because Kasper leaves.

Don't think there's any question, it's Evans, end of. Surely?

He's the current VC and the most natural leader in the squad. For me, Kasper was captain by virtue of his history here more than because he was the best on-field leader. His relationships with other members of the squad, from the outside looking in, have never looked quite that natural and close. Evans, meanwhile, seems really bonded with everyone.

If he's fit enough to play and pre season he shows no sign of having not recovered then no question it's jonny.

Don't like the idea of Vardy not sure why. Just doesn't seem right. After that. I'd actually be all for Wes getting it. Don't know why but Don see madders as a captain.

I guess it may well be youri if he's still here tho.

Hey All,

Im just curious who everyone thinks would be next in line for captain if we were to lose Kasper and Youri this summer.

Do we think Vardy will be the natural option? He obviously leads by example but im not sure hes the motivator in communication. Albrighton seems like hed be a great captain but with limited minutes it might not be the right choice again.

Personally my guess would be Johnny Evans would be given it, but again as its time limited is this the best call?

Think what you want of the guy but I wouldnt be opposed to Madderz being the next in line. He was part of the leadership group... a hugely popular figure in the team and I think someone who would flourish with the responsibility.

He had a tough few years, made some bad calls but he's grown imo. I think youd see a similar raising of the game as you got with Grealish. Someone who also made a lot of bad decisions but you cant fault how he led villa.  You never know, the armband could convince him to sign a new deal. Im sure hes always dreamed of being the player to lift a trophy

OGC Nice not what you would call a step up the ladder, more like a rest home for retired footballers

In terms of on pitch instruction and leading by example I'd say:

Youri (may well be the incentive to sign a new contract)

Madders (may well take him to astronomical levels and convince him to sign a new contract)

Evans (getting old though, probably has maybe 2 seasons left)

Vardy (same as Evans)

KDH (perhaps too young right now)

Ricky P (probably not assertive enough)

One day definitely but not right now. He has another year of growth in him in his first full season in the starting 11. Let him blossom and have this conversation next year. Vardy Evans or Maddison for now but still can’t see kasper leaving.

In the Watford away game, who got the armband after Vardy? I know when Evans came off, it went to Vardy, but never saw who got it after Vardy went off.

My guess is it will be Evans with Vardy as vice. But they will probably need a third player to wear the band for a chunk of games.

Youri and Sharky were still on the pitch so Im guessing either of them

Feels a bit of a cross roads with the Captaincy if Schmeichel is going to go. Of course you would expect to give it to Evans or Vardy as expected, but they’ve both got two years left tops?

Might be an opportunity to go a bit left field with it.
