Great stuff. Played the ball around with pace. Maddison looks every bit the Engliand player that Southgate desperately hopes he isn’t. Bouba looked like a man trying to impress a whole principality!

Bringing this in to the post match thread. I couldn't disagree more with this if I tried. Pre-season is exactly the time you give certain academy players a chance to play games with the best first team players to test them and gauge if they are a player to consider part of the first team for the season.

Enough of you stick up for the manager about not trying them halfway through the season when there's a lot at stake. Take Callum Wright for example, he's nearly 23 and if he's going to be kept around will have to be named in the 25 man squad so we need to make a decision on him. One clearly hasn't been made yet because if it was then he'd have been removed from the 1st team pre-season picture like it appears we've done with George Hirst and a couple of others already. So give him 45-60 mins and test him.

Any argument we need to get minutes in to the likes of Vestergaard, Soumare, Perez etc who have all been told to find new clubs then tell them to play with the U23's for fitness and minutes in the legs, it's pony excuses that don't cut it. If needs be put 1 or 2 more friendlies in and mix first team with some U23's for this very reason. In a week where Calvin Bassey has just transferred for 100 times what we got for him in compensation only a couple of years ago, I think it's a powerful reminder of whether we could be doing more in this regard.

He's blagged this notion he supports giving academy players a chance way more than he ought to as we are way down the list on minutes given to U21 players and although there's managers worse, he's no pioneer in that regard either.

Cmon mate, the most important thing was silverware today and getting the fans back onside 🤐

We looked right on it tonight, especially that second half.
Tbf, they were horse shit.
But it’s always nice to get a win to make your plums feel that extra bit juicy.

What do we actually do with that? No disrespect to Hull City, who I’m sure this will have been a marquee fixture for, but surely we won’t actually take that back to Filbert Way?

Win it 4 times and you've got a set of hub caps.

That team can challenge top 6. Two of the best players in that match were Praet and Soumare, Daka too was class. Maddison is no one-season wonder, he's got magic in his shoes.

Would love a signing or two, that elusive right winger with some X-factor would be great. Personally I would love Lookman back who proved himself worthy of a permanent signing too.

But based on what we just saw, we have not only a good first team, but a good squad. Schmeichel, Ndidi and Nacho didn't even play!

Tbf that was the best correndum cup bench performance i’ve ever seen. We’ve seen the no look pass, but not the no look bench

they call him lookman for a reason
