My late uncle was in Borneo. Not often mentioned but it was pretty grim from what he did say about it. Jungle warfare.

No picnic I'm sure. An uncle was transferred with his tank squadron from the middle east to the far east. Singapore fell before they got there so sent to Java and was captured there. Survived 3 years as basically a slave prisoner before he died of beri beri and dysentery

Just been out in the garden and gave everything a good water. Was really peaceful and pleasent.

Also has been the best year ever for raspberrys and looks like its going to be the same for tomatoes & chillis :D

Today is the worst I've felt during this hot spell. Probably accumulating lack of sleep as much as the heat. Waiting for the magic phrase fresher conditions are imminent

It's wild how hot it is here. I was surprised to see most of the world cup has been unaffected. Lots of indoor stadiums where the heat would have been brutal and the west coast / Mexico have been very mild.

Playing outside in this heat would be brutal.

Fully fed up with this now. I found myself gasping for breath today. It seems people have decided they're not going to go out shopping when they can get some poor sod to deliver it.

Absolutely no contingency plans from Royal Fail, sorting offices with no air-con or even opening windows and vans don't either.

This keeps up much longer I swear I'm going to suffer some physical damage.

Luckily we’re not as humid as two weeks ago

so it’s almost ok but still just that bit too hot

at least the nighttime temps are less oppressive and a breeze will kick in tomorrow so hopefully yesterday/today was the worst of this spell

I think it depends on how physically fit you are.Personally I love it.Not even like 30C temperatures have come out the blue.Summers have been like this for years now.You learn how to adapt

The number of records for both temperature and time being broken appear to disagree with the assertion being made here.

And while it's clear that adverse weather will target the less physically fit first, I'm sure appealing to Darwin in this fashion will be a real comfort to all of those suffering now and in the future (as opposed to, say, taking whatever measures possible to ensure the problem doesn't get too much worse than it already is).

Well great for you.

I’m in my 30’s and physically fit by the way. I’m not affected by this heat in the sense of being ill or anything. Doesn’t mean it’s not deeply unpleasant and limiting to what you can do.

Like I say, if you are sitting around on your arse in it all day, it’s probably fine. If you want to be active and busy, it’s tough.
