Man City (H) - Post Match Thread

I thought the Foxes played very well today.

 

Just done in by an individual moment of brilliance -- which was almost matched by Youri.

Well despite losing 1-0, I thought we were fantastic.

 

1st Quarter – Defended fantastically offering nothing going forward. Allowed Man City all the possession

2nd Quarter – Defended fantastically, but now looked a threat on rare attacks

1st Half – Also worth noting despite all our defending, never conceded a foul.

3rd Quarter – Mendy on and gave away the first foul within 2 minutes. Genius by KdB followed which was in the end all that separated the teams (almost genius from Tielemans rattling the crossbar). Otherwise defended well

4th Quarter - Formation change and finished the game as good as Man City. Made chances, but no cutting edge from Iheanacho and Daka.

 

Overall, impressed with the players attitude, discipline, organisation and defending in general (including Set-Pieces)

 

Only question is why did Mendy come on for KDH at HT when we looked so organised?

NB – You can argue Mendy hardly touched Grealish for the free kick, but in the 1st half we made sure not to even give the referee a decision to make

Oh and personally I thought Vardy played too deep, I don’t think we needed him to play behind the ball

The first 70 was not a good watch, but we couldn't have played like that for 90.

 

A free hit. We missed.

 

On to the next one and we *are* playing better.

Very few complaints from me. Thought we defended brilliantly.

 

Shame we didn't go for it just 10 minutes sooner but I don't think Brendan deserves too much stick today.

Two world class strikes. One went in, one didn't. But I'll accept the result. It's such a relief to have a decent defence.

A lot of positives to be taken away but unfortunately we were just beaten by that bit of brilliance from De Bruyne. 

 

Don't think Man City played that well, and perhaps showed them too much respect at times, but all in all 8m as happy as I can be following a loss.

Result did not matter much for me today providing it wasn't an absolute trouncing. Today was all about effort, holding our shape, making it difficult to break us down, and if we could snatch a result take it. It was negative, it almost sent me to sleep, but for the most part we did the basics well in defence and given how bad we have been defensively this season, this could prove a real stepping stone that we were only unlocked by a magical world class player with a strike nobody would save.

Thought that was a decent performance can’t do anything about the goal was just to good. Ten mins more of daka and nacho I think we could have nicked a draw . Ward seems to have a bit more confidence in himself and soyoncu played well considering he hadn’t played for so long

Very frustrating especially when Mendy doesn't even put in a challenge on Grealish so was never a free kick....can't legislate for what happened next.....I saw togetherness....fight....heart and desire from all XI and Soyuncu is still decent

The reaction from the crowd says it all. We lost but were applauded and cheered by the fans. We showed today that we are getting better. Defending was good, Ward did not make a single error, we looked comfy on the ball and only a worldie free kick separated the teams. Daka and Kel looked sharp and dangerous and created problems. But I am not downhearted. The boys did good today.
