£100m

Whole thing at Newcastle is starting to feel like the Saudis just wanted something to keep them busy until they got their shiny new league outside the remit of FFP off the ground.

Thoroughly enjoying the whole sorry affair given how quickly a sizeable chunk of Geordies sold their soul for this, only to find out it doesn't mean they can just buy the league like Man City and Chelsea before them did in a rather different era.

Yes, on the face of it it's a blatant attempt to sidestep the rules in England. But at the same time, do we really think the PIF are going to be that fussed about what happens to Newcastle so long as their own silly league with unlimited funds is able to establish itself? Almiron going there is still a coup for the Saudi PL, maybe not a Ronaldo / Benzema / Kante / Mahrez level one but still a talisman from an EPL side they can parade as another face of the whole debacle.

Willing to bet more will follow if it goes through.

Yeah, they'll still pump money into Newcastle (as much as they can) I'd imagine. The Saudis won't want to lose face to the UAE ownership at Man City.

surely this will keep them out of FFP trouble by selling players over there for big prices, meaning they can spend at will in the PL ?

One way to get around FFP right ?

Klopp leaving Liverpool at the end of season is interesting. Not sure where he will end up or who they will go for.

De Zerbi to Liverpool would be my guess

imagine they will go for Xabi Alonso.

Cant see him going to Saudi. Madrid or Bayern are good shouts or tempted by the new Man Utd regime

good call re alonso

if they dont take him now then he’ll be off to Madrid in 2025

Can see Klopp taking a year or so off and then replacing Carlo at Madrid.

Liverpool have to go for Xabi Alonso, makes so much sense.

Just to add that these in season announcements can go either way

remember Man City stating Pelegríni would leave and pep come in the week before we won up there in 2016.   They dropped off big time after that announcement

Big step down that, bit of an era ender really, Klopp going and Salah could be off too.

Alonso to Liverpool could be too soon, he should stick it out at Leverkusen for a few years first

I'd have guessed at Alonso.

Thought Klopp would end up going but didn't think it would be the end of this season.

Done an unbelivable job.

Hate it when people announce they are leaving months before.

Is the Germany job coming up?

Nah, he just said he needs a break.

Klopp effectively says in his interview that he's burnt out and needs a break.

Wouldn't of thought so as they have Naglesmann only got it in September.

From his statement it sounds like he could of been diagnosed with something? He said hes fine now but he has ran out of energy and can't carry on season after season, hope thats not the case.

His video is proper narcissistic nonetheless.

Wouldn’t look past Liverpool giving Pep Ljinders a chance initially.
