Actually think it’s a really good move for him. Wouldn’t get a game for one of the top four and he’ll have a chance to play in Europe with a very good manager.

I’d go as far to say it’s pretty much the best he could hope for.

It's a sidewards step to move from a relegated team that is being run into the ground to a Villa team that is clearly on the rise?

The man puts in two years being probably our best player and scores a worldie to win us our first FA Cup and we have people treating him like he's Joe Mattock. I know it's painful to see him drop off and leave us but there's no need to be silly.

There are two Tielemans at Leicester, the first 50% of his Leicester career that he looked a top PL player and the second 50% when he did look like Joe Mattock.

For Tielemans sake I hope he was stringing it out at Leicester for the last two years because if that's the player that turns up at Villa he's going to be a major disappointment.

Personally hope he shows his last two years form. Imagine if he looked a world beater again 😕.

Villa nowadays are a very good team. Still think he'll be a bit part there but make no mistake it's an upwards move for him.

No question it's an upwards move from the 2023 version of Leicester but if you said to him two years ago when he wouldn't sign a contract after winning the FA Cup that in two years time the best you'll do is Villa then he would have been horrified.

I personally am not sorry to see him go because he's been terrible for two years after looking like a Rolls Royce when he first came here. We got relegated by two points, if Tielemans had performed below average rather than awful this season that would have been enough to keep us up.

If you think Tielemens "consistency" is the difference between us staying up and going down then I'd recommend watching another sport mate.

His agent has screwed up, he clearly had more ambitious clubs in mind for Youri last Summer but couldn't get a deal sorted.

His subsequent performances this season will have put off top tier suitors for sure.

I've long questioned Tielemans opting to go with his current agent. Up until a season or so ago, the list of clients was essentially Youri and then a host of players at lower levels overseas. It always felt to me that either the agency risked not being equipped to get him a move and us a sizeable transfer fee as a result or that he always viewed Tielemans as the jackpot and walking away on a free where both player and agent make vast amounts of money and we get zilch.

They've since added a few higher profile players but there's scant evidence of him getting Tielemans the move most expected him to.

Its an upwards move in the respect we’re a Championship team now. Its certainly not an upwards move from the level we were at 19-22

A bit part move to Aston Villa is in no way a step up. Massive downgrade.

From where we currently are, any prem move is a step up but from where his aspirations were, Villa is a step down from where we were when he wanted to move. Not to say that under Emery and with them being yet another unicorn in FFP (of being able to spend way above their means and it being no issue), that they can't compete for Top 4 but he couldn't possibly dress it up as being a step forwards in his career.

I don't even know what this means, apologies if English isn't your first language.

Great signing for villa and a great fit for YT!

he doesn’t have to move, uproot family and gets first team football and European football plus gets to develop under a top top manager !

good luck to him - it’s not his fault we did not demonstrate the right ambition and we had the ability to move him on a lot earlier - he will play well alongside Luiz in that midfield

...how about Tielemans stayed with him, as he would be concentrating most of his time on looking after Youri!!!

Youri is not a child that has been led astray, he knew what he was doing when he opted for 4 years, as opposed to the 6 we were offering to other players.

But times change? They have a far superior squad, manager, financial clout and finished in a European spot.

So if Villa achieve Europe again next season for example or win a trophy its a master piece then on his part?

12 months ago he was playing at a level he no doubt felt could compete at champions league level.

He's not that player now, and joining the best of the rest pretty much (Europa side, form team since Emery took charge). Feels like a pretty good move to me given his alternative was to sign a new deal and would now be eyeing up Plymouth and Co.

What an anticlimax - not Arsenal, Dortmund or Roma...Aston Villa

Just Birmingham's bigger brother..

Great on the ball.
Not so good off it.

He’ll do okay at Villa.

That's fair but I think the point was that he decided to run down his contract at a point when he could have been sold to a better club. Could have made an agreement with the club that he signs a new deal with a release clause.

Obviously now it is a step up and a good career move but it was pretty clear that he made the decision to run down his contract 2 years ago, and that's backfired (as we'd have definitely sold when his stock was high as we'd have got more money), so in that sense it's been a poor career move.

It's been a poor move from our perspective not his
