is it tho? hes playing european football and doesnt have to uproot his family either

dont get me wrong, annoying we didnt make any money from flogging him but it is what it is

plus it shows what moronic idiots the higher ups have been the last 2 yrs

Sad in the sense he thought he could get Champions League and ends up with a side ways move into the EC.

He has the vision and passing range but lacks the physicality for top 4.

Good luck to him but if he delivers the passive performances we have seen in the last 12-18 months he will most likely be on the bench most weeks.

Makes me wonder if he had of stayed if we had stayed up.

Wish him well but it's not the best move for him although rumours from villa mates is that he is on 150k a week.

The bloke had dreams of the bright lights of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool. Maybe even somewhere continental.

Ends up at Villa. 40 miles away.

Hilarious.

“World class” according to some.

Yet it’ll be Maddison going to a better club and they have to pay £45m+ for him.

Yeah, playing in Europe for one of the biggest teams in the country under one of the best domestic European managers ever. Bet he’s gutted.

His agent has had a mare. All the talk of Champions League and Arsenal, and he ends up at Villa.

His half hearted performances were directly connected with him running down his contract, and that put the top clubs off.

If he’d signed a new contract with us, he would likely have been more motivated, and performed better.

A disappointing outcome for Youri and the club.

He was running down his contract when we were competing for the CL, so yes it is slightly amusing.

Seriously does he even start for Villa? They play a double pivot and they've already got Kamara who's better defensively and Luiz who already has the role of the guy who scores a few bangers every season but can also actually run. I get the feeling they've signed him to mostly play the Conference League games and he'll want to leave after a year.

Hw definitely would have signed a new deal had we stayed up you'd think.

Not sure Tielemans could have done much better considering his performances for us in the last two seasons.  Basically though, he's joining a club in a similar position to the one he was refusing to sign a contract extension for, when it was first offered to him two seasons ago.  I'm sure at that point he was expecting a top 4 club to come in for him, but his lack of fitness and application in the last two seasons has cost him any chance of that move. He only has himself to blame.

he's been awful for ages for us. Now, if he starts for Villa looking like he did for us when he first joined us on loan, i'll be pretty annoyed. Hopefully he'll be shocking for them, worth the punt for them though with no fee

Interesting to know what his wages will be given the reported stumbling blocks for other moves.

150k a week apparently, so yeah can see why others didn't fancy it.
