His half hearted performances were directly connected with him running down his contract, and that put the top clubs off. If he’d signed a new contract with us, he would likely have been more motivated, and performed better. A disappointing outcome for Youri and the club. They play a double pivot and they've already got Kamara who's better defensively and Luiz who already has the role of the guy who scores a few bangers every season but can also actually run. Basically though, he's joining a club in a similar position to the one he was refusing to sign a contract extension for, when it was first offered to him two seasons ago. I'm sure at that point he was expecting a top 4 club to come in for him, but his lack of fitness and application in the last two seasons has cost him any chance of that move.
