To try to speed up the recovery process, Coady spent the first week of his injury living at the club’s Seagrave training ground. With the rest of the squad on the tour to Asia, he had the run of the place.

 

“The first week I was injured, I stayed there all week just to get a headstart on my injury,” he said. “I thought that if I’m here all the time, I can do everything I need to do, I had everything there for me.

 

“I was literally at the training ground on my own the whole time. There was nobody else there, just me and the security guard! I was so desperate to get back with the lads.”

Great attitude, something that was lost under Rodgers reign.

No the conspiracy that Seagrave is cursed. 1 broken foot out of all the hundreds of hours played there doesn’t constitute something wrong with the surface 🤷‍♂️ 

If there were 5,6,7 broken feet and only Leicester players suffering ACL injuries in the whole footballing community there might be something in it but…

I really hate the Seagrave conspiracy theory. We should be careful. When enough people keep repeating it then it becomes ’true’ even if it is nonsense. Like Richard III’s body being thrown off a bridge in Leicester. That was a fact for many for hundreds of years.

Fair enough, the confirmation bias is strong.

 

Many variables including training, medical setup, sports science philosophy, kit and the physical conditions underfoot.

 

Our injury record over the last few years does seem troubling though, granted I haven't seen any data comparing our injury rate to anyone else's.

The injuries started long before we went there.

He comes across very well in interviews and it's clear he has the mentality and personality to have a good influence off the pitch, which we need as much as what is on the pitch.

As part of Leicester City’s support for this weekend’s Leicester Pride celebration, group members from the Club’s LGBTQ+ fan group, Foxes Pride, met Men’s First Team player Conor Coady at LCFC Training Ground on Thursday afternoon.
- Leicester Pride takes place in the city centre on Saturday 2 September
- The event is Leicester’s annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender celebration
- Foxes Pride group members met Conor Coady at LCFC Training Ground this afternoon

The defender spoke to Graeme Smith, Paul Malley, Mags Keatman and Kyle Warman at the Club’s training base in Seagrave to discuss the group’s work and to learn more about Leicester Pride and why it is such an important celebration.

An annual event, Leicester Pride is the city’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender festival, and takes place at the start of September each year.

Celebrating equality and diversity across the city and county, Leicester Pride begins with a parade through the city, starting at The Curve Theatre at midday before taking a route through The Lanes, Jubilee Square and along High Street prior to proceeding to Abbey Park.

Speaking after the discussion, Coady said: “We spoke about the importance of allyship and how we can all make football an open and welcoming place for all. We want everyone to be able to involve themselves in the game and to have a great experience. 

“I like to be able to offer my support in any way I can. It’s me being a football player and understanding how other people feel within the sport. Football has given me everything and I want football to give other people everything.”

Established in 2015, Foxes Pride work with Leicester City to tackle homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in football, while promoting the welfare of LGBTQ+ supporters and ensuring King Power Stadium is a safe and welcoming place.

They currently have more than 200 members and were named Supporter Group of the Year at the Football v Homophobia awards in 2022.

Graeme Smith, Chair of Foxes Pride, said: “What Conor said was great and it’s so nice to see players who are supportive of the LGBTQ+ community and prepared to speak out and show their support.

“It was really good to be able to have the chance to share with him some of the work Foxes Pride do and what Leicester Pride is about, but also for Conor to tell us about some of his experiences of being an ally.”

Coadys son was playing at an event where my mates son was playing over the weekend, and he got talking to him.  Said he's a really nice guy and was chatting to everyone and having photos with all the kids. More importantly though he told him that he'd be back in training today and should be back playing soon after the international break
