Simonb Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 I like Coady, and he will be our leader soon.. but against Blackburn, I'd stick to where we've done well with the same defence but have Justin in for Doyle. Bring Coady in for the Preston game.. tough decision after that 1
goose2010 Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 Imagine he will be on the bench against Blackburn. 2 games in 5 days for someone coming back from injury probably isn't the best thing to do.
BKLFox Posted 27 September 2023 Posted 27 September 2023 I think that performance just crossed the T’s and dotted the i’s for who will be playing lead CB

FrankieADZ Posted 2 November 2023 Posted 2 November 2023 good read that JP article, even if Coady isnt playing alot hes not throwing his dummy out and is a positive influence in the dressing room too; think in time he could be a decent head coach too if he went into; also sounds like Enzo sort of "gutted" some of the ghost and traits from the previous management too, which is good to see
pkonline Posted 2 November 2023 Posted 2 November 2023 I really like him for what I have seen so far off the pitch and on it. Natural leader - something we lacked last season. Probably not having the game time he was expecting, but with a long season ahead he will get a run.
Jabfox Posted 2 November 2023 Posted 2 November 2023 probably a silly question, anyway to read this without signing up?

Lionator Posted 2 November 2023 Posted 2 November 2023 “When I signed, the club said they wanted characters and experienced players who can speak and push people in the dressing room,” he says. It's so frustrating that the club only did something about this after relegation but fair enough for recognising the issues. I'm guessing they were pretty glaring even internally. 2
brookfox Posted 2 November 2023 Posted 2 November 2023 Probably not a surprise that Coady comes across so well in the article. He's clearly a leader and something we massively missed recently. The more you hear people talk about Maresca, it's starting to become clear that we may have a very special manager on our hands. Early days into his own career and will no doubt face challenges but feels like we've gambled on him and it's paying off big time. 1

Makes it so much more annoying that they couldn't recognise that Rodgers needed to go until it was far too late. 1

Those of us pointing out for a good 18 months prior that we had no leaders on the pitch, shouted down as usual and proven right again

Yeah the issues were more than glaring for a long time and many of us stated it. Losing leaders and not replacing them adequately enough, or at all in some cases, is one of the main reasons for our relegation.

He managed to clear out the players with character and Vestergaard was ostracised, no doubt because he would not "toe the line."
Langston Posted 2 November 2023 Posted 2 November 2023 Quote Coady describes the £100m complex as “like Center Parcs”
RowlattsFox Posted 2 November 2023 Posted 2 November 2023 I think it's great that he's so enthusiastic despite being predominantly been out the team. Obviously getting injured impacts that but he's not had a look in since coming back and he still comes across great.

He is playing very high up the pitch under Maresca, the way we now play has mitigated his deficiencies. He was not happy with how he was brought here under the promises of Rodgers and no doubt his turning down offers to go elsewhere was a reaction to what her perceived to be false promises and he now wanted his pound of flesh.

He’s now a fixture in a team that plays very high up the pitch. Is the reason that we can accommodate him because EM’s team are organised so much more effectively? Is it because Championship teams are less capable of punishing us in transition? Has Vestergaard’s form dramatically improved? or a combination of all these?
