If you're forgetting how good he was then you just have to look who is playing for at centre back for us now lol

He was dick before he came to us, and he was a dick when he wanted to leave. A shame for him but not going to lose sleep over it.

came to us in part by being a dick, so we cant really complain too much when he leaves the same way !

Wes was an excellent player for us. Wish him the best in recovery. He should be a defender you class alongside elite names in years to come. And he would be if it wasn’t for injuries.

Saw this thread as hot. Thought we were bringing him back at first. Damn you. I'd take him in defence on his own over the four we play now.

Brilliant player.

Could he have left on better terms, of course. I don’t wish him ill in anyway though, as we got massive money for him.

I’ve also heard stories contrary to him being a bit of a tool and he’s been supportive of children’s charities etc. Not everything is as the media portrays.

You could tell how good he was just by the reaction of how pissed off we all were when he left. I’m sure the way it panned out had a lot to do with it but deep down we knew the type of player we were losing.

I think much of the genuine venom towards Fofana comes from the circumstances around the injury and contract (most of us have got over Kante, Mahrez, Maguire etc. leaving, even when there were tactics employed to force a move)

He and Saliba both came to England at a similar time and Forfana was streets ahead of him. Without his injuries imo he could have been better than Saliba.

Now Saliba is one of the top 5 CBs in the world.

Forfana was very unlucky but he is obviously a bit of a dick off the pitch - just ask Dean Gaffney!

I remember the sentiment when we signed him was that Saliba was rawer than Fofana but had a higher ceiling

Sure I did. As I said, schadenfreude is a perfectly normal and human response. I don't override it with virtue signalling.

It might be normal and I'm not above a bit of scadenfreude myself, but think about what it means.  The literal translation is 'shameful joy'

Massive shame for the lad, could tell he was destined for big things almost immediately. Injuries have been cruel on his short career so far.

The next big thing?? He was good but perhaps you’re overselling him a touch.

He wasn't the finished article by any means, but he was easily the best central defender at 19/20 I'd seen. More impressive than Rio Ferdinand.

That's not the literal translation of Schadenfreude. Shame is Scham/schämen, which isn't the same as Schaden (damage).

In retrospect, that malicious tackle on him was the catalyst for everything going wrong.

Don't wish any ill on the lad but given what happened, it's hard to wish we'll for him although, him pushing through a move is probably the best thing that could have happened seeing as his legs are made of rich tea biscuits.

Didn't St Etienne fans rate Saliba higher than Fofana?

The anatomical structure of his legs is baffling tbh, he’s basically bow-legged, surprised he passed a medical with Chelsea tbh after the severity of his injury against Villarreal.

Yeah he has the gait of a newborn giraffe

Why is he still mentioned on here ? He was good, but he left in a huff.

Played the majority of games and was very good in our second most successful season ever. It'd be like expecting people not to mention Kante.
