Soumare to Napoli?

Can definitely see there being egg on a few faces if he goes there.

My view is that he can go somewhere else and be decent without any eggage. Being good in a foreign league doesn’t mean that he would have ever come good here.

Let me guess, a season long loan , we pay half his salary, with an option to buy that they renage on. Usual Italian football business, unless they're selling.

Kim Min-Jae went to Bayern Munich after they paid his release clause, so they have cash. His wages will also likely be a lot less than Ndombele's.

A season long loan is admittedly way more likely though!

Wouldn't put it past De Laurentiis to consider the sale of one of Osimhen or Kvara either. He almost seems to have been touting Osimhen to PSG.

But they'll be absolutely tight bastards about how they spend to replace. They'll have the resources but a loan would meet their MO.

Even in a succesful set up you still have to carry him, he doesn't work hard enough, nor he is he able to play as a 6 and he's not creative/threatening enough to play as an 8. He's had 1 successful season in his career up to now and that was in a niche set up at Lille.

Turned down / faffed about on a £15m + add ons bid from Monaco last summer. Would be galling to not get something similar to that this summer but appreciate circumstances have changed since then and not for the better!

Because it's Napoli?

Or because we've written him off here? He's had two years, it's not like we haven't given him a fair crack - He's been woeful.

If you mean only playing sporadically in the wrong position by Rodgers a fair crack of the whip.

Soumare could do well in a slower, less intense system. Showed some flashes when he played.

Someone’s not watched Italian football for some years.

News to some, Italian football makes the Premier League look like walking football.

What’s the right position then?

I absolutely do think he’s been given a fair crack, yes.

Think about what Rodgers said about him when he first arrived (wanted to make him more box to box and score goals), then look how he employed him, either trying to do that or defensive midfielder.

If you then read this demonstrating his strong and weak points,  it was no surprise it didn't work out. Likewise he improved under Smith somewhat when employed in a more natural role.

As long as there is an obligation, do we care?

Well a sale goes in the credit column in one go. A loan with obligation only gets the  loan fee in this season with the fee the following season. This is complicated by bouba being in year three of his contract so this year has 5 million in the negative column. If we sell him now then we have to lose the whole 15 mill left this season so if we sell for 15 mill then it’s a zero sum affect on our ffp for this year. If we loan out for 3m then we have negative 2m on ffp this season but assuming they then buy for 15m next summer that puts 5m onto our books for next season.

so selling or loaning with obligation isn’t much different this season. Losing his salary of approx 2.5m would be helpful.

selling players in the first 2 or 3 years of their contract isn’t as wonderful for our finances as we think!   Will be similar for daka
