As a proper Leicester fan of over 30 years now, regardless of our recent success, it's drummed into me to be the eternal pessimist and I just can't see our season going well.

I do hope I'm very, very wrong but I've not been able to shake off this feeling that Enzo's appointment is going to be Paulo Sousa than it is Nigel Pearson.

Without 1 or 2 more attacking additions to the squad, I can see us drawing more games than winning. I've got a feeling we'll be defensively sound but going forward we'll lack a cutting edge. We'll dominate games, but be clueless in the final 3rd, look to be creating more than we actually but if we don't take the chances when they come a lot of games will end up 0-0, 1-1 or at best 1-0.

I'm prepared for a season of outsider playoff contenders in the hope that it all clicks going into the next season where we'll really come alive.

I like the idea behind Enzo's appointment so I hope it doesn't go badly enough that we end up searching for another new manager by Christmas but I've got an awful feeling that we're going to start very poorly and have far too much catching up to do when it it does (and it will) clicks

This was hard, not least because my knowledge of the trajectory of most championship clubs is scarily bad now we've been away for a few years. With the greatest of respect, some of these clubs are so nondescript it's unreal. I spent ten minutes staring at the gaps until I realised I was missing Ipswich and Watford. Legendary, memorable rivals Watford! How could I forget them!? It's almost like the only thing of note they ever did was score against us in a semi-final of a play-off they went on to lose thanks to a pensioner's penalty.

Some of the stuff I do know is:

  • Birmingham City have a "turd that won't flush" reputation
  • The likes of Cov, Millwall and West Brom are due a fall-off
  • Swansea relied heavily on Piroe to get results and, if he goes, they're going to be in trouble.
  • Nige is a God and this is the season everything clicks for Bristol City. Not biased. Honest.

But yeah, this list is mostly a crapshoot based on educated guesses and "vibes". :pearson:

I said at the end of last season we were more likely to go down again than come straight back up and they've not really done enough to change that. Can see it being a shambles.

(Unless we shed this insane idea that we are Manchester City reborn, with 'inverted fullbacks' ffs and a 'possession based philosophy'. Christ! - let's just try playing committed and skilful football)

It is indeed nigh on impossible to predict this coming season - probably the hardest ever Championship campaign to predict this time around with no minnows in there at all (maybe the likes of Rotherham and newcomers Plymouth aside)  - and that's following on from the previous hardest to predict Championship season (last season) that somebody as mediocre as Burnley ended up running away with - while the seasoned 'yo yoers' who were expected to go straight back up again (like Watford and Norwich), completely fell by the wayside last time out, as did teams similar like WBA! The fact that sheer mediocrity came a distant second in the next automatic spot (from first and third place) in Sheffield United also shows how poor the league was last season, while someone like Luton going up in the play offs slot encapsulates it all in the mediocre stakes for me - evemn if a bit of a fairytale for them (Bournemouth style under Eddie Howe), given where they were 15 years ago. For the record I'd say we'll be in the play offs shake up next May but no idea where in there exactly!!

Expect all 3 relegated clubs to be top 6. Of those that were in the division last year Coventry, Boro, and Sunderland seem best placed to make a promotion push. Ipswich most fancied of those that came up but seem overly fancied for me.

Glad you agree with the shite that's being peddled. Just watch how the teams that succeed in this division play, Paulo.

It's been so long since we were in the Championship that I forgot,🤣 In that case swap Ipswich and Middlesbrough in the table in my prediction

Not gonna do full table but

Autos - Us and Middlesbrough

Playoffs - Leeds, WBA, Southampton (p) Sunderland

Relegation - QPR, Cardiff, Sheff Weds.

Surprises - Ipswich to be a dark horse for the playoffs and finish 7th. Blackburn to flirt with relegation and almost drop.

Erm......slight problem with that

Did you watch Burnley last season?

I'm guessing those who assume we finish top 2 are those who think we'd finish top 8 last season? Also this Bristol City hard on, really! Anyway who knows, we may sign some decent forward thinking players and brizzle may fluke a top 6 finish, who knows.
