He could easily have played it safe but he was demanding the ball and playing that deep lying midfield role that would suit Enzo's system.

 

I think he's ready. 

Think his game was vs Newport, as I’m certain it was at home. Nonetheless, him and Nelson were ready for a couple of years prior to this season. It would have been brave(which Rodgers wasn’t) but we could have seen Nelson during the 21-22, when we had to play Wilf and others at centre back.

Yes you're correct, MK Dons was Alves wasn't it. He then got injured the very next day in the FA Youth Cup.

been to every game and he can and does tackle he is quite tough and puts in some hard ones

I think he is just knackered at this point in the season

 

Not really a surprise when you consider we haven't had anyone at all to rotate with him and he has also played more football this season than he EVER has before

 

Until this season his highest was in 19/20:

 

41 appearances

36 starts

3,074 minutes (34.2 90s)

 

This season:

 

45 appearances

45 starts

3,963 minutes (44.0 90s)

 

Already played the equivalent of 10 more games than he ever has previously in a season and will add the remaining 3 games onto that as well

 

Will likely end the season having missed just 99 minutes of league football (1 game he was suspended and then 2 games where he was subbed off)

Happens more often than not these days. It doesn't ruin as many careers as is made out and there's no denying his ability. He's exactly the type of player that fits Enzo's football.

Me too. Maybe ‘can’t tackle’ was wrong. He’s a bit weak is what I meant. Very rarely wins a physical dual is more accurate. Good footballer, but not a defensive midfielder

He was back to his masterful best yesterday after an understandable lull recently. Really good to see him do so well - so integral to the way we play - class guy on and off the pitch!

Surprised more hasn’t been said about his celebrating last night.

 

For a more seasoned pro, how much he let himself go and enjoy the moment sums up how quickly he clearly feels at home/respected here.

 

He definitely suffered from no alternatives with his dip in form earlier but was quality last night….well done Winksy.

Apart from that awful misplaced pass that lead to a giveaway goal. I can't remember him putting a foot wrong, really. For a player Ive never really rated as anything special, he's had a brilliant season, he looks like he's loving it here. Long may he continue.
