Am I the only one who things he is a bit overrated

Absolutely not, thought he was horrendous yesterday. His kicking is awful but he does command the box a bit more than Mads.

Jurys out for me

We need another keeper if Mad is sold with Iversen and Ward leaving.

Bring some in and let them compete.

There has been a great deal of complaining on this forum a lot that we don't allow a pathway to the first team.  I think we should be building around youth, promoting the kids and I have every faith in Jakub.

Lets spend whatever transfer kitty we have where it is actually needed for a change.

Shame about Ward. Thought he could come good in the Championship as a backup.

We will have one senior keeper, Jakub, who come in if he blows his knee out first game?

Well there is that.  Point taken.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think we should commit to Jakub as our number one next year if Iversen wants to leave.

I don't think anyone disputes that but we will need to sign a senior keeper as number 2

Just looking at the stats and he has the highest clean sheet percentage of any goalkeeper in our history to have played over 15 games (aside from Godfrey Beardsley in the 1800s) at 42.11%.

Kind of depends who we have in charge and how we want to play. His shot stopping and command of his box definitely seem good enough… but his kicking in say an Enzo team would be a problem. All in I’m hoping he starts next season (assuming Mads goes, which last season seemed a shoe in, his stock has fallen this year).

it either needs to be someone much better, in which case he will want to leave and you're back to square one. I'm happy with this option if we're able to pluck out another Mads.

If we're not signing better then it needs to be an old head that's happy to be back up for a year or 2. Heaton and Begovic are both out of contract this summer and would fall into that category.

I think JS is a perfect first choice GK for the championship.

John Ruddy might be good to have as he's free and will help JS develop more. He's had plenty of experience

He is young and will have to work on aspects of his game, but ultimately there are other areas of the squad that need attention.

If he is given playing time I think he will become a very good keeper.

He’s definitely good enough to be our number one next season and he isn’t the finished article. He will get better with game time but if we had the option to keep Mads then that’s a no brainer.

Yesterday was definitely the poorest his distribution has been so far I think

Just seemed to be way more nervous than usual

I do hope he gets given the first choice keeper role next season as I do really rate him but if whoever is in charge wants the keeper to be comfortable with their feet we might need to go into the market for a new keeper who can do that…

Poor Jakub…

Either going to get bumped back down to 2nd choice or be asked to play in a way he can’t by Martin isn’t he

We’ve got bigger problems than our GK position.

Jakub will be one of the best in the league next year. Even then it won’t be enough to stop the shit in front of him letting the side down.

He will be a big problem if it is in fact Russell Martin that comes in

He isn’t comfortable enough with the ball to play that way reliably

He might not seem as nervous and panicky in the Championship

He's still young. If he keeps working hard and continues his upward progress he'll be a top keeper. He's an excellent shot stopper and better at crosses than either Mads or Kasper.

I've every confidence he'll be number one for a few years until he's poached away.

Reckon a good summer of training can fix the distribution issues. It’s not hard for a modern keeper

Dean Thornton was retained by Southampton, JTR will leave with Ruud.... interesting to see who that goalkeeping coach will be!

Step forward Danny Ward….

If I'm really honest, Jakub has disappointed me the last few games. So has Mads, but I'm hoping for a more commanding performance today as he's likely to be keeper next season.

Jury is still out IMO.
