Abdul Fatawu Signs

Recommended Posts

May as well play any cm out there to be fair. Enzo wants his wingers to pass rather than use their very specific skillset of being rapid, tricky, and unpredictable (the latter being the part that I imagine has Enzo waking up in cold sweats).

Doesn't overly impress me I'm afraid and I won't lose sleep over not signing him come the end of the season, even if we're able to.

This kid is going to come good don't worry about that. People always forget about Fatawu's defensive contribution!

Thought he was pretty poor today. Should of been took off a lot earlier. If we have limited money next season I'm not sure spending 17 million on Adbul is very wise.

We wont have a choice if we are promoted

He’s got to stop playing that ****ing pass to ndidi to the byline… been doing it for weeks and it’s not working. So predictable and passed it out of play 3 times! He’s got potential and I like him but the amount of good positions he gets in and does nothing with is frustrating. Give Yunus a go.

I don’t think he needs to stop that. I see that as a key feature of the set up with the number 8 running behind. I suppose it replaces the overlapping full back in a more conventional set up.

When Ndidi was out, I also thought we missed the outlet. Passing it out of play is the quality of implementation not the idea.

Someone said on another thread that he should sometimes use the Ndidi outlet to then cut inside. I agree with that. It’s about not being predictable and not doing the same thing. Either use the outlet or use as a decoy.

Lack of good 3rd wing option has been a downfall for us all season. Yunus did well today but he's not a serious wing starting option for me.

I'm not as convinced as most with Fatawu, he never scores a goal like Stephy today for example as he's always ball watching and not getting in the box. Has some raw ingredients though.

Lack of variety of plays with him and Ndidi is frustrating. Ndidi closes the space every time so even if Abdul wants to go down the outside he can't. Ideally have someone to play 1-2s with.

Did anyone else notice how, immediately after the winning goal celebration in front of the bench, Enzo escorted Abdul off to the tunnel, apparently sending him to the changing room?

I wonder what that was all about? Hopefully absolutely nothing - fetching the post-match champagne or whatever. Hope Abdul didn't nut Yunus for coming on and putting in a better cross than he could manage?

Frustrating/poorish game for the lad today - in a good season. He's already a great prospect, but if he can learn to cross as consistently as he beats his defender, he'll be a hell of a player.

Maybe something to do with Ramadan if he's fasting?

It’s really limited in a transfer embargo!

I don't see it in him at all. But I have been wrong before.

He has to improve his final ball, shooting accuracy, and decision-making. There's no doubting there's a player in there, and his defensive contribution is decent, but my word…he is so frustrating.

The lads just turned 20 and is playing in what is in effect his first full season. He's very erratic and does blow hot and cold but there's clearly a talented player in there. The lack of competition on either wing doesn't help. All our players need to be fighting for their places to reduce complacency. I'd like to see him benched for a game or two. Give Yunus a chance and make Fatawu fight for his place.

The kids 19 in what is his first full season, there’s all sorts going on for him to deal with being at a club with expectations such as our own. He’s frustrated the hell out of me recently but this is only the start for him

I could be wrong, but I believe the fee is 15-17m. That seems way, way too high for what I've seen.

It kills the momentum because 9/10 it doesnt work

That's another debate in itself. In our current financial position it doesn't look great. 3 years ago it would have been good risk to take.
