I'm watching Luton V Stoke & Cannon scores a lovely goal...  A very composed finish. The lad has definite skills !!!

It'd be nice if he makes a career for himself here but at the very least it'd be good to get some decent money for him. Championship clubs will pay good money for a proven goalscorer

I would return Edouard

We'd still have to pay full whack I reckon.

I don't think Cannon is anywhere near PL level but despite that, is still x400 better player than Edwardo

Poor lad is absolutely useless. Even Rodgers steered well clear. Glasner has said in as many words wtf woiod palace want him for. Even Cooper didn't rate him - no greater insult!

We would be lucky to break even on him at the moment but I see tons of potential in the lad. He could benefit from being coached by  RVN & training with Vardy & Daka.. I would return Edouard & recall Cannon.

Rotting on the bench behind Vardy and Daka will do nothing for his development or his transfer value. Leave him at Stoke where he's getting regular football.

I guess we'll never know but who at the club thought Odsonne Edouard would be a good acquisition!!!!!

on the flipside, an injury to vardy and it could scupper our survival, we really need 3 strikers and Edouard looks like he's not interested

Edouard has apparently been Injured and there is nothing to say Cannon would be any better than him at this level, leave him at Stoke for the season unless someone wants to pay us a stupid amount of money to buy him

He needs proper coaching to improve. it's all part of the apprenticeship. Some FA & League Cup appearances coupled with some late substitutions.  Training under a world class striker alongside a world class striker could be a game changer for his career !

only if he is ready to play at the PL level, I would be expecting him to be performing better in the Championship than he is if that were true, which doesn't mean to say it couldn't be next season

He's having a pretty decent loan spell and for the first time in his career seems to be nailed-on as first choice at Stoke so unless we think we can sell for a decent profit in Jan or we have our eye on a really good Prem loan and are able to sack Edouard off, leave him where he is. His development is not going to be served particularly well by dragging him back here to be our third choice.

Take this however you want as it's not a direct source, but I was told it by somebody who apparently has contacts within the training ground etc.

Apparently Cannon has all the technical skills etc but is just so painfully unintelligent that it's almost impossible to coach any kind of nuanced tactics in to him, and that's why Enzo (and subsequent managers) haven't fancied him.

Ah so he doesn't fit in with all the brain boxes we have in the squad?

This would actually kinda make sense. Whenever I watched him for us I thought he looked good abd that deserved a few more minutes.

But if I was Cannon, unless promised games, I wouldn't want to come back! He's at an age where he needs to be playing regularly for his future career. Mcateer and probably some others before him aren't up to Premiership standard because by not loaning them out we've stunted their careers.

He’s currently 8/16 if he continues at that rate finishing with 24 that would have put him 2nd highest scorer in the championship in both the past 2 seasons and 3rd in the previous to those, which means he would have out performed our own JV &  Gyokeres who’s about to get a move for 100m or something daft just 1 season later.

He's on a good run rate and a full season loan will do him good.

It’s actually a very good exercise to look at those championship scoring charts because there are quite a few names in there that topped out at the 10-14 mark yet are being lorded in the premier league.

He’s got plenty of time to grow + I often read on here about players growing and really kick on when playing with/around better team mates, are our players better than Stokes?

Could we sell him on and use that money to fund a Ferguson transfer?

Ferguson hasn’t done much for a long time now. Absolutely bottled a shot against us and wasn’t much of a threat.

It really is difficult to gauge him as a player because Stoke are fxxking awful.  Scored a good goal today because Manhoef forgot to hog the ball and played him through, beat his defender opened his body up and got enough power and accuracy that the keepers touch couldn't divert it.  Made a clearance too.  Other than that his only other highlight was him and Koumas getting in eachothers way in the box and falling over eachother.  I don't know how this'll affect his value because Stoke aren't really in contention for anything, so you can bet they won't buy him.  If they were chasing promotion you could sort of hold them to ransom a bit, but as is they're an also ran probably more likely to go down than get the play offs.

Every time I've watched Stoke he's barely in the game (bar the Portsmouth game), but that's not down to him, they're just atrocious.

Im a little stumped by the lack of interest in him by Consecutive city managers.  I saw him i think 4 times last season and i think he scored 3 goals that i saw in person.  The other time he was played out wide which didn't work.

But i thought he was useful, certainly more presence and physicality than daka and he can finish....he wasn't given a proper opportunity or regular appearances to make more of an impression.  Id certainly have him back here now.  I dont have any inside knowledge but my only assumption is that he has done something to put him in the bad books with enzo and then cooper

It makes absolutely no sense. His best skill is probably his off the ball movement and getting into space. Hardly the signs of somebody who can't be taught any nuance in their game.

Weren't we offered what we paid for him in the summer but he didn't want a permanent move (likely die to the wages he's on here post promotion). His stock is rising. An ambitious PL team pays £10m or more for him comfortably.

If you're going to make these kinds of comparisons, I will just retort with Sammie Szmodics
