It's going to be a tough game I reckon, on the back of Southampton getting thrashed 5-0 away at Sunderland.

Would be happy with a draw. But if we get the win great.

Going to be goals in it.

No doubt it'll be another game where we won't keep a clean sheet.

I'm pretty worried about conceding chances to these, the likes of Armstrong aren't going to need many chances to put one away.

As long as Dewsbury-Hall and Iheanacho are dropped I'll be happy.

Cannon or Vardy in? Who's replacing KDH?

Poundshop Brendan vs Poundshop Pep's battle for possession 🥱

ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON!

yeah - lets worry about possession, not football.

Should cancel each other out. Total yawn-fest for the fans.

I don't think Coady will come straight in.

I think he drops Nacho for this, and if Cannon is ready will bring him on as sub.  I think he will stick with Yunus to start and keep Fatuwu as impact sub for now.

Hermansen

Faes Vestergaard Doyle

Ricardo Winks

Yunus Casadei KDH Mavididi

Vardy

I do worry about the next 2 games though. I think we likely lose this, and think draw would be a good result.

I doubt Coady will be back for this one. Maresca said he will be able to join the group after the international break, but he'll be massively behind on fitness. Maybe you see him for the last 10/20, but it will likely be another 3-4 weeks before he's in frame for a starting berth.

From a game point of view, only one team in the Championship averages more possession than us, Southampton. But despite having 68% of the ball at the weekend, they lost 5-0. Both teams can't average over 60% possession, so something will have to give. I think they will have more of it, but we will look more dangerous. That's because Russell Martin's teams play more like Brendan Rodgers teams (controlled possession but not that threatening), whereas we are supposed to be waiting for the incisive moment to make a few killer passes to open the opposition up. So I think we will be fine with them passing it between centre-backs at points, though I'd expect us to try and press their backline at moments too.

The game could end up being pretty boring though, with both teams looking to keep the ball for the sake of it. This is by far the most interesting game for us so far from a tactical / quality standpoint, and the biggest test. Southampton beat us twice last year, one of the big reasons we got relegated.

N'didi deeper, alongside Winks, Casadei behind Vardy or Cannon. I don't care who it is as long as Inheacho doesn't play.

Think he persists with KDH. I don't think Ndidi has shown anything that playing him deeper solves anything.  Agree that Nacho should be dropped. Start Vardy and if Cannon is ready bring him on as impact.

Judging from their forums, some of their fans are getting very twitchy about Martin already - the word 'fraud' has been mentioned more than once. Their defence is woeful - they've conceded three times as many goals as us in just five games. This is a very winnable game if Maresca picks our strongest 11.

Main points for me are Fatawu and Casadei Must start from the beginning as we look much more likely to score with then in the team. Fatawu will most likely scare every left back he plays this season and will create lots of space elsewhere as teams will likely have too double up on him.

Agree about Casadei, but we need to be really careful with Fatawu. That lunge at the end tells me we need to manage him carefully. I don't think it would be a bad idea to integrate him a little slowly and use as a high impact sub. Be lovely to see him brought in to a knackered Southampton defence.
